BSOD - Crashes Constantly / Dumps attached

Hello everyone,

First off, huge thanks for the help here... i'm completely stumped. Ive tried what I would believe to be everything. Essentially im looking for an answer, even if its an answer that it cannot be fixed or its a hardware problem. At least at that point I can just replace the part.. or something.

- 64 Bit
- The system was originally built about 2ish years ago, Vista 64 bit was installed at that point
- OEM Vista, Currently retail windows 7 ultimate

- What is the age of system (hardware)? - 2.5ish years.
- What is the age of OS installation - In this case, almost 2 days.

When I originally built the system, it was running vista and everything was fine. I started to get some BSOD's under BCCode 50, which from some research appeared to be some sort of a memory problem. Prior to this the system was solid for nearly the 2 years. Once the memory thing happened, I jumped to just a simply reformat as I had not done so for a long time. I decided to do the upgrade to Windows 7. The problem persisted, I did a memtest and my computer BSOD'd. Huge red flag so I started to swap out sticks and continue to trouble shoot. I discovered a faulty ram stick, I then replaced it. Everything was good to go for about 6-7 months. Then I started to get a wide variety of BSOD's.

BCCode 50, 3B, 5E etc. I then jumped to doing a memtest, ran it for like 12 hours.. no errors nothing. I then tested my video cards doing a stress test, benchmark and stability with no trouble. I am currently running 2 Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 meg in SLI. I tested them individually and in SLI with no trouble. I continued to troubleshoot with no luck. I tried everything I could think of. including wiping drivers, reinstalling for both my motherboard drivers and my video drivers. I tried rolling them back and it didnt work etc.

At this point, any game I play will cause a BSOD in roughly 20 minutes or less. So I reformatted completely. I did a complete wipe and install of a fresh Windows 7 yesterday. everything was all fine and dandy until the BSODS came back. The catch is now i'm getting BCCode 50's, C2's and 3B's. Ive tried updating my BIOS, drivers all over again and scrambling all over these forums to catch any idea I can try. Not to mention when I installed Windows 7 as a fresh install I got the notorious "dropped network connect" bug for the first 6 hours until i was able to eventually solve that through research etc.

I am now at my last resort, posting this up to see if any of you Guru's out there can take the challenge and tell me what I need to do next on this beast. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Rippen; welcome to the forum. I looked at all three of your dumps. All three indicate memory corruption and none give a specific cause. I do see an almost guaranteed BSOD maker on your system.

The 2005 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit " (it's about the 8th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Update ASACPI.sys, reboot and see how your system does. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will start looking at hardware.

Hello Carl,

First off, thank you for your response! I know its Christmas Eve and I was really doubting anyone would be hitting these forums.. but here you are! Thanks a ton.

I have ran the file you mentioned and it has updated the time stamp on the file so we are good to go. I will see if another BSOD happens and will report back.

I got another BSOD this morning. This time it was a BCCode BE. I have attached the dump file.

I was very optimistic that your previous suggestion would have worked. As I was able to go about my normal business for a much longer period now. Instead of 20 minutes, I tried to use the PC for a longer period this morning and at about the 2 hour mark this happened.

Let me know if you have any recommendations.

At least your system is improving. Your dump shows your uptime was 1:39:37. The dump blames ntkrnlmp.exe, which is the Windows system core and highly unlikely to be the real problem. I suggest that you test your RAM with Memtest86 following the instructions in this tutorial: RAM - Test with Memtest86+. Let Memtest run for at least seven passes which will take 6-8 hours. Run it from a cold boot after your computer has been off for a while. Post back with the results.

If Memtest shows no errors, enable Driver Verifier following the instructions in this tutorial carefully:
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Use your computer normally while Verifier is running. If Verifier finds a faulty driver, it will trigger a BSOD. Upload any and all Driver Verifier enabled dumps.

Hello,

Sorry for the quick second post here but I just tried the verifier and got it all set up like your link advised and my PC wouldn't boot. I had to go to a restore points (which I conveniently created prior to doing it as your instructions advised)

I am not sure if the verifier is still on or if its worth trying to fire it back up again and restart or what... let me know how you feel about this. In the meantime if I get another BSOD i'll post it up.

Hello again,

I got verifier to work. I gave it another shot like your recommended and my system booted fine. I just got a BSOD right after with BCCode 50. I just attached the dump. Was I supposed to attach a special dump that verifier created? or just the one in my standard folder where all the regular windows dumps go? Regardless I attached the one like I have before. If you need anything else, let me know!

Also, if I should now turn off verifier, let me know and I will do so.
