BSOD new computer

    BSOD new computer


    Any help in identifying the reason for the BSOD. Maybe due to ZoneAlarm Free which I loaded. I uninstalled ZoneAlarm last night and will run the computer for the next couple of days and see if I still get the BSOD.

    Sony VAIO VPCEA390X
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    OS installed by Sony (new computer) OEM
    Purchased in December 2010 directly from Sony

    Hi WEJ and welcome to the forum.
    You've made a good start removing Zone Alarm firewall. Download the Zone Alarm remover and run it when you are in safe mode to clean up.

    AVG is known to be a cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems so you need to uninstall it.Download the correct AVG Remover for your system. Download Microsoft Security Essentials as its replacement. Uninstall AVG, Re-boot to Safe Mode. In Safe Mode run the AVG Remover tool. Re-boot to normal mode and install MSE.

    Update these drivers. Look to your manufacturers or motherboards website first:

    RTKVHD64.sys Tue Apr 27 09:20:13 2010Realtek HD Audio
    RtHDMIVX.sys Wed Jan 27 03:04:58 2010

    PxHlpa64.sys Thu Mar 13 01:58:17 2008 Sonic CD/DVD driver (used by many different CD/DVD programs)

    iaStor.sys Thu Mar 04 02:51:31 2010 Intel Storage driver
