My pleasure! As for the shutdoen issue.. no reason why this could not be helped here.
How long have you tried waiting....
+ have you checked your maintenance center to be sure it is not some Update downloading and waiting to be installed?

On many occasions, I've left it overnight and when I check it in the morning, it's still showing the "shutting down" screen. As far as I can tell, there are no updates installing, or waiting to be installed.

    run eventvwr.msc

go to Applications and Services Logs => Microsoft => Windows => Diagnostics-Performance => Operational

Look in the Shutdown Performance Monitoring category for Events

    Post what you see please...

    Mark,

Loaded the event viewer, and the last three entries are all "Shutdown Monitoring Performance"...in total there are 177 entries the majority of them being warnings, with the reaminder being an even split of error & critical.

    Anyway, onto the entries...

The latest entry is, and I don't know what data you want, as follows. Sorry if this is too much info, or if it's not enough, please get back to me.

    Cheers

    Duncs
