lets hope so, the kids are moaning that im hogging the computer.
thanks again for your help danny, got to spread it around im afraid, IOU
Update:
well it hung again this morning and this time i switched off the external that it tries to boot from ,or that is causing the hang and it booted normally.
funnily enough i had the exact same issue with my old desktop but with a different external, although it wasnt until i upgraded from vista to win 7 that the problem started on the old one.
slightly puzzling ,im going to try reset the boot order so that the desktop drive is first in the boot queue
well the external. (iomega 1T) has now taken to not showing in "computer", it will show several hours after the pc has been booted, thus making it unreliable and untrustworthy. so i have copied the files from it and no longer use it. bit of a bummer really as i could do with the extra space, will have to buy a new one for birthday now.
i tried a different usb portwhen it started playing up but it was no good, anyway i have a reason to get a larger one now
