Startup Repair loop -repair installation?
Dear all,
A little over a week ago, my system BSOD'd (too quickly for me to see the first time) and eventually after a number of restarts rebooted normally and ran fine for the next day or so. The following day, I was unable to get the machine to post, with fans spinning but not a lot else. Resetting the BIOS seemed to work, but I was then stuck at the startup repair screen, looping without success. I had a spare HDD so installed another copy of 7 Pro and managed to book ok, but after several more BSODs it looked like a hardware fault. I changed the motherboard today for a similar (same chipset) model and reconnected the original HDD, but once again I am stuck at startup repair with the following error:
Problem signature:

Problem Signature 07: Corupt Registry
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

I cannot get into Safe Mode in any guise without the system heading back to the unsuccessful startup repair. I have also tried the advanced F8 menu/ignore non-signed driver option, however this caused a fast and immediate BSOD just after the Windows splash screen -way too fast to grab any kind of info.
If at all possible I would like to retain the programs/files already on the HDD (looking through the inventory with Command Prompt, it seems everything's still there). I've seen reference to a Repair Install on this forum, but the supplied instructions state it needs to be performed from within Windows. I was hoping for something similar to the old XP version?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Best wishes.
Stu.
