Thanks for all the help guys :) I just put in an order with newegg.ca for that very PSU and a new CPU air cooler. At least it'll fix my graphic display crashes, it might even fix other BSOD if it's due to power consumption. Just gonna have to wait and see.
John, I have bought both the HX 850 and the AX 850 and have found little difference in them except the HX is semi modular and the AX is fully modular and I believe you get a few more cables with it. The advantage of the AX is, it's their top of the line model and is fully modular. The advantage of fully modular is if you have to RMA the PSU, you don't have to re-wire it. Just unplug all the cables and when you get the replacement plug them back in. For the difference in price between the HX and AX, it just depends on how much that is worth to you. The AX version has the capability to do some things the HX can't. Some of the high end motherboards need an 8 pin EPS cable and a 4 Pin EPS cable. The AX has that capability but the HX does not, as far as I'm aware, but it costs you 2 pcie cables. But you have the option of how you want to do it where the HX does not.
If I ever did get a bad Corsair power supply and had to RMA it; I would cry if it wasn't full modular. It would take me many hours to redo all the cabling to the way I like it.
Once you go full modular you won't go back to non full modular.
Thanks Steve and Jack I hadn't thought of that to be absolutely honest I was thinking more along the lines of cable replacement but there again I am bit slow on the uptake at times
Hum I have just watched a couple of videos on the RM series of Corsairs PSU's (fully modular) and they were really quiet and extremely efficient and best of of all not that pricey. The RM 650 for example $159 even out here!!
Haven't had any BSOD since the last time I posted one, just got my power supply and CPU heat sink today, already installed them. Successfully booted up, screen flickered once, other than that everything is working fine. I'll give it a week to BSOD before I mark this as solved. I do believe that BIOS update did help a lot though.
