Solved BSOD at 2 random times.

You can use a x8 PCIe slot too, even a 4x one. However, OP said he changed the motherboard 3 times with the same model.

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread, apologies if this has been discussed: BIOS update and a CMOS reset is what I would say.

Yeah that's what I mean. there are other slots but not x16. So you say I can try x8 (or x4 if I don't have an x8)? It will still work?

Can you give me some more info about the CMOS reset? Or an external link explaining the procedure?

Thank you

X16 and x4 differ in bandwidth, at worst you will lose some GPU performance which is ok while diagnosing.

You can check your motherboard's manual for how to reset CMOS. It will involve removing the CMOS battery and setting a jumper etc.

Hello again,

I have changed the slot in which the GPU was and for the past 3 (I think) days I had no BSOD.

Today though, when I turned my PC on there was a blurring thing going on which I cannot explain.

I am uploading a video of it though. If you know something please tell me.

Thank you again!!

Oh good grief that is just awful and I am at a loss now as to what that is - but it does smack of a motherboard problem if both slots are causing these insane issues.

What I did not mention is that after a restart it was fine. Since I changed the slot I had no BSOD. But this is the 3rd MOBO that I change.

Is there a case that the problem might be due to the combination of MOBO and GPU? (I mean something not being compatible with the two models..)

Anyway, thanks again. I really don't know what else to do..

No V1 mate I cannot think of why they should not be compatible I suppose a look at compatibilities on the board specs might show something different but that is usually the board maker preferring RAM for example.

I'll have a look anyway:)

Just as an afterthought and sorry if it has been asked already but did you install anything Gigabyte add on utilities from the disk they give you with the board.

I ask because my Sandy Bridge is a Gigabyte board and I had to get rid of a lot of the junk that was on that board and also a lot of the drivers as with many other brands are usually well out of date when one buys a board.

Bsod again!!

So I just got another BSOD (with the GPU in the other slot)

And I am posting the .zip.

To answer your question.

Yes I have some things installed.

The first time I installed everything and I got BSOD even before I saw the desktop.

I formated again and installed each driver (that came with the CD of the board) individually.

I found out that Intel Rapid Storage Technology for AHCI and RAID was responsible.

after that I only installed what I thought were necessary.

I have the App center so that I can control the fans.
Furthermore Intel driver for the USB 3.0 and some others that I cannot remember right now.

Do you recommend uninstalling all of them?

If yes, are they not needed? I mean, will the USB work in the highest speed? Or the fans?

It is the same issue continues as it was at the beginning of the troubleshooting. BugCheck A0000001, which is a custom bugcheck of the AMD graphics environment (driver/card).

We have tried multiple different graphics driver there to see if the situation changes, but the display related BSODs continued there irrespective of the display driver version installed.

At this point, I would suggest you to apply any other graphics card there and see how it goes.

BSOD Chrome related?

Hello again,

I had 2 or 3 BSOD again, all the same from the graphics card/driver.

I have noticed though that most of the times (if not all) the BSOD occurs when I am using Google Chrome.

My main browser is Safari for Windows but sometimes I use Google Chrome.

Either when I am opening a new tab or just launching the program, the PC might crash.

Is there something that combined can cause a BSOD?

Unfortunately I don't have another graphics card to apply and test.

Thank you

It is not you only .... I have noticed a lot of users are facing BSOD issues with Chrome. If you think so, there is no reason to use Chrome. It is just another browser. Use anything else. My recommendation will be firefox.

For my two cents worth I think Arc is on the money here as personally the alternative browsers to IE I have found to have no advantage if any over IE - unless I am missing something here.

My main browser is Safari for Windows but sometimes I use Google Chrome.

Safari is a huge security risk, it is not supported on windows since 2012.

Please discontinue using it. You most likely are infected.

Your awesome for reading this.
Infected?

Safari MIGHT have some security issues regarding the browser. Not Windows.

But even so, my PC is not infected and I had no BSOD by the time I uninstalled Chrome.

I have not marked the thread as solved because I want to be 100% sure it was Chrome and it will take some time. Maybe 3 more weeks.

And furthermore, strangely I have to admit, I find Safari for Windows (even though support and updates stopped in 2010) to be excellent with no issues in 3 different computers. (and I am not talking about high tech components)

Thank you for your concern though!!

I would suggest you to take Andrew's point seriously. He knows better about system security. I have never used Safari (I tend to avoid apple products); but as it is a discontinued product, it is obviously better to not use it, because it is not compatible for the most recent online threats.

There are lots of browsers available there, and none of them are money oriented .... they are all free. Firefox, IE (that is present there by default), Opera, Maxthorn, all are good and regularly updated. Pick up any one of them according to your choice. It may need a couple of hours to be accustomed with, and nothing else.
