I will test about the removal of the external disk and let you know.
About the corruption, is it due to the installation or due to the .iso that I used? It's a legit copy downloaded from Dreamspark. If I re-install there will be the same amount of corruption?
Than you!

usually due to the install. Something along the way got messed up. I'm going to have someone take a look soon that can fix it without a reinstall.

Hmm well my y=two cents again I agree with Arc re the browsers I just don't se why on needs anything more than IE - it just seems to me people want a browser to chase down (searches) things before they touch a key
As for the Dreamspark -
https://www.dreamspark.com/ I have seen this is in a couple of other threads and there has always been problem/s - similar it seems to me but I am not expert it could be coincidence.
Again not being an expert it seems to me that Microsoft probably put this out with the intention of people using mainly Microsoft products but maybe I am being a tad suspicious about stuff like this see this

There was a discussion about your issue in a private room .....
Question to you guys, could a corrupted install of windows also cause a bsod?
the guy that was getting bsod with chrome posted his log and that windows did detect some problems but was unable to fix some of them. I know they are gone now with chrome uninstalled, but my mind wonders.
http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/372336-bsod-2-random-times-8.html
And the result was ....
There's only the usual errors induced by KB3068708 in the SFC data.
No significant errors in the background CBS data, either.
Which means, as far as I can say, the SFC results should not be a very vital for you.
If the computer is stable now, IMHO there is no further need for a troubleshooting right now.

Yes Arc and reassured me re Chrome - being not overly keen of that browser having only used it once.
