Ok funbrain mate one of those dumps that measn scratching around for the cause.
Now I see you have AVG free AV and personally I think it is not that good a program .

I would again personally be dumping it for something else - have a look at the free real time programs here - not the AVG Trend or Norton but there are plenty to pick from Avast, Bitdefender Avira etc etc

Then I would start by running these

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with themalware scans

(NBIf one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it ordisable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)
Then I would like to see the results of this

    Using HW Info

    PART A:

You can test the volts onthe PSU with HW Info HWiNFO,HWiNFO32/64 - Download <download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensorsand scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts aredoing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton)with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE

Now the voltage on thedifferent rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machinewill not work properly if at all.

See this for the railvoltage info

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html (Section 2.)

The original right handwindow shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at thecomponents in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel

    FOR OTHER COMPONENTS

    PART B:

Open each small squarewith + in it on the section the components are in and then click on theindividual component/s (it willhighlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of detailsincluding brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. Seepic for example.

Lastly I would like to see a little more detail on the system specs machine model CPU RAM etc etc
System Info - See Your System Specs

    So, the problem just...stopped.

The computer would not get past the windows loading screen, on safemode or not. We attempted to boot from a external hard drive, but that blue screened as well.

Eventually, the computer started up, but was very laggy and slow, as in the whole computer froze for quick small moments at a time, kind of like a game running at 3 fps.

While the computer was on, i tried to save as many files to my external hard drive that i wanted to keep, but the computer kept blue screening.

But while i was moving over the final few files i wanted, the problem slowly stopped. The computer stoped lagging and so far the problem is gone, no blue screen or lag while using the graphics card.

So, not sure if it was a hardware or software problem, but its gone now. I will be getting a new virus protection, although personally i haven't had any problems with AVG.

Ok mate now that smacks of something thtat is either caused by a program you have and use or more likely the AVG. I know I keep on about it but it really isn't my cup of tea.

I would in any case run those scans I linked they will winkle out any filing issues and for the most part fix them - I won't say all because it doesn't in most cases, an the malware ones area good add on scan for stuff that the main AV doesn't pick up because no AV is infallible.

If you do get rid of the AVG then to make sure it is completely gone then I always check in the registry because a lot of of the AV removal tools do leave stuff in the registry .

To do that - first back up the registry - https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/4230-registry-backup-restore.html save to desktop or wherever you want.

Then - Start (Windows orb) > type cmd in search > right click Run as admin in the blue box that will appear > then you will have a window with the HKEYS in it > go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > check down the list for any AVG entries - if there are any right click on it and delete it - Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and do the same. See my pic

    Any questions please ask:)
