I need HELP - BSOD on start up unless F8 LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION
Hi
My machine (Windows 7 64 bit) keeps crashing with BSOD on start up.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BSOD
A device driver attempting to corrupt the stack has been caught.
The faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced
with a working version.
STOP: 0x000000C4 (0x000000000000005, 0xFFFFFA80075B9BD0,
0xFFFFFA8007F8A950, 0x0000000000000000)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've tried System Restore, but that didn't help.
Bottom line - I cannot use this machine unless I F8 and opt for "Last Known Good Configuration"
every time I start up.
BUT what I don't understand is why it doesn't throw up BSOD when using
"Last Known Good Configuration" because it stills starts from scratch (albeit F8).
How can this Last Known Good Configuration - option bypass the problem with what seems
to be a regular start-up?
I've checked Device Manager (Hidden View) everything seems fine with no yellow icons.

I'm not sure what "stacks" do - so I don't know if there’s a link - but when BSOD mentions about
faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced with a working version, is there a link
here, when on 6 April I installed this?
2019-03 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4490628)

By now I know I must be losing the room . . . BUT another point about (KB4490628)
When I tried to install (KB4490628) (and others) it didn't go to well. It seemed stuck,
so I left it over night.
The next day, all seemed okay.
It was only today (11 April) that I noticed that the update that was stuck maybe wasn't
installed correctly because of this - the;
2019-03 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4490628)
[March 2019 update] {that wasn't installed until 6 April 2019}
Has UPLOADED TWICE at 12:57 and 14:53 [KB4490628 - Has UPLOADED TWICE]
Even if MS allowed it I didn't upload KB4490628 twice.
So in case there was a clash I was going to delete the 12:57 upload - but then I thought
I might cause even more problems.

Finally, I have gone through Event Viewer.
Event Viewer shows a real problem with Intel Queencreek that from what I can gather is not important.
Basically Event Viewer shows that there has been a problem most days going back to 2016.
Today I stopped ESRV_SVC_QUEENCREEK in Services then disabled it.
But that didn't seem to help with problem, although just a thought, could this be the Stack Issue?
Could a stack be full up after being added to most days since 2016.
If this is the case, how can this be flushed out back to zero?

Oh I just remembered - what started all of this was when machine hit BSOD - I opted for "repair" (I think).
The report came back with clean bill of health apart from
Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR - 1.
I've since found out that Repair doesn't fix this issue.
I came across this - but that didn't help.

It has been a long time since I downloaded anything with drivers.
The only other thing I have downloaded recently was Opera browser, after I deleted it for hogging
CPU/Hard Drives.
After a week I reinstalled it again because I missed the “Save as .PDF” function because if I come
across anything I might find useful to use in the future on a website - it’s so easy to do with Opera.
If you've reached this point - thanks for persevering.
If you can help . . . go easy as "Stacks and so on" I'm not familiar with.
But any help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks.
