You are welcome, Brian. If updating/disabling these drivers did not work, I have to conclude it is a hardware issue. Have you gotten any further BSOD's since you updated and renamed? Run your computer and see what happens.

You can see where nvstor64 is loading. that is one of the NVidia drivers you could not update. And it may be OK.
I do see Kaspersky is loading and ntune is loading. Both of these are known to cause BSOD's on some systems. I thought you had uninstalled Kaspersky and replaced it with MSE for the trouble shooting purposes?
Ntune is a third party performance enhancer utility. These tune up programs do not work with Win 7. Don't use them. Uninstall it. I found three threads where the posters had found conflicts between NTune and the NVstor.sys driver.
I also see that Seagate DiscWizard is loading. The two obsolete drivers, timntr.sys and tifsfilt.sys are associated with DiscWizard. I didn't see where the drivers were loading though.
I suggest that you run your system. If you get another BSOD, uninstall Kaspsersky using the removal tool > Info > Tool Install MSE in its place. Reboot and run your system. If you get another BSOD after that, upload it.
If the above does not work, I recommend that you take advantage of your warranty and send your machine off to be checked out.
Do keep us updated.
ok carl and (others )
i have to go out so will report back ASAP thanks for your time and patience in this problem you have been a great help and your knowledge is really appreciated yes i will take advantage of the warranty and ring them tomorrow there is something not right maybe the machine will get tested better this time than last all they done was reinstall windows, this time i will make a report for them about the errors and hope thy find the fault. in the windows logs its all there for them and the dumps thanks again
hi every one
i think the cause is the kaspersky klif.sys as you have pointed out carl a while back. i have thrown it in the trash unless kis can get it to work in windows 7 thats where it will stay this time so i have put on trend micro internet security Pro trial. see how i get on. thanks for all your support i will update soon in this thread. BSOD has taken its toll on me now. blue is not my favourite colour!!! i had a bad spate of bsod two days ago i will post them if you want but i have been able to see what the cause is. kaspersky. i have been on the forums there and im not the only one with crashes this is a paragraph from softpedia> What's new in Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 2010.0.0.463 Beta:
· Changes in klif driver - memory leaks
· Changes in driver kl1 - BSOD in kimul subystem
· Change of AppInfo for chineese localization – added international key support – changes in module lic.ppl
· Changes in file balloon.html for spanish localization
· Changes in file bl.ppl - hangs during signature updates when "gaming profile" is active
· Rare product crashes
· Signature auto-update now operates properly
Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 11.0.1.400 Critical Fix 1 Beta / 11.0.0.232 - Changelog - Softpedia
but i have not installed this version nor did i try it i will wait and see how i get on with trend micro.:)
NO! NO NO NO!
Don't install Trend Micro. It is not just Kaspersky that causes BSODs. Installing Trend Micro can also cause BSODs.
Install MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
That is the only AV you need.
Jonathan is right on target. Most security suites can cause conflicts with Win 7. Avoid them. You are inviting trouble.
If you wish to use a third party firewall, try Comodo; it seems to run well with Win 7. There have been a few isolated instances of it causing a problem. However, for troubleshooting, stick with MSE and Windows Firewall until you know your system is running smoothly. Then you can experiment. I can only recommend MSE and Avast for antivirus programs.
To further explain about security suites, here is a quote from an expert who is also a member here. He has been researching and studying this problem. I highly respect his advice and opinions.
My theory revolves around the enhanced security that came about in Vista when the user tokens were split. A "user-admin" account in Vista & Windows 7 runs with a single user token. When full admin rights are needed, elevation occurs via consent.exe (UAC) and the 2nd token is obtained for the particular function requiring full admin permission. Only the single Hidden Admin user account (SID = x-500) runs with both user tokens in Vista & Windows 7.
Certain system services run under the "Local Account". The firewall drivers run in kernel mode under NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and can block local NETBIOS ports used by system services, resulting in APPHANGs, which after 30000ms, becomes an APPCRASH.
- Windows Explorer or IE8 screen background fading white
- small blue circle spinning endlessly
- The phrase "..Not Responding..." appears
- WERCON screen appears and asks about reporting, close program, check online for solution, restart the crashing app, etc...
In XP, all admin accounts run with 2 user tokens = full admin rights; hence the reason Zone Alarm, NIS, KIS, MIS, N360, et al., do not have problems. Only 1 level of security to deal with.
I have always held that the differing levels of security in Vista/ Windows 7 make it extremely difficult for Internet Security Suites to function normally (as in XP).
Food for thought!
