Today XP Died
Today I finally decided that it was time for XP to go away. For some reason I have been attempting to make myself believe it was still a necessary OS, albeit it just wasn't happening. With the ability to run Vista in a VM, along with a copy of Win 7 32 bit it just didn't make a bit of sense to continue to work with XP.
Vista 32 will do just about anything that I need in legacy programs that will not run, or work properly on Win 7 64 bit. The only real application I was using which required XP or Vista 32 bit was Cool Edit Pro 2000 (which was used to record and convert all my reel to reel tapes, and records (45's and 33 1/3's to mp3, and wave format)). Now that I am finished with a project that has taken five years there is really no reason to keep XP around. Not even just to play with.
After working with Win 7 for the past year and half I find going into XP is like going from XP to Win 3.xx or 95.
So today I took all the XP VM's off of my computer. Next I bundled up all my copies of XP and shipped them off to one of my brothers. He is hard headed and still lives in a world where upgrading is considered silly, and bordering on stupid. He is of the mind that if it isn't broken. . .so what; don't do anything until it is (still love him).
So it is good buy to XP, and looking forward to Win 8. . .
