I got a series problem with my Sony Vaio laptop. Its still under warranty. I approached 2 service centers but the problem still not resolved. When I browse for half n hour or if i watch any movie for half n hour, then system hangs and screen turns black with power being ON. Need to force restart using power button. After switching ON, i get the follwing message:

Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 16393.

I have uploaded the ZIP file (SF_Diagnostic_Tool).

Please help me with this issue.

Download and install Speccy to monitor your system specially the cards temperature. If it generates a lot of heat you have to arrange extra cooling.
:ar: Download Speccy 1.17.340 - FileHippo.com

If there is dust accumulated within the machine get it cleaned carefully.

   Warning
If you are unsure how to do this, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: as it can void your warranty!!!:warn:

Then run furmark to stress test the card.

I downloaded the latest NVIDIA Driver from manufacturer website. (Graphics Driver (NVIDIA) Update version 8.17.12.6831)

I installed it and I restarted the system. I checked in the NVIDIA control panel, it is a per the updated version.

But stil I am facing the same issue.

I have attached the latset Dump file (Generated after updating the Driver).

Hi Venky, If this was my laptop with these problems I would return ASAP before the warranty runs out. With the mini dump blaming an nVIDIA drive, your graphics chip may be bad.

You could also try an older nVIDIA driver too as an experiment. In my sig is a link to Driver Sweeper, use it to first remove your current GPU drivers.

Vicky, Your driver is not updated properly, It is still using an older one, as per the dump you supplied.

To update it properly, Do as described.

Do two more things.

  • Download and install Speccy - System Information - Free Download, check the temperature generated by the graphics card, and the system overall. Let us know.
  • Clean the dust inside the computer carefully (If yours a laptop, dont do it)
Let us know one more thing, are you under warranty?

And, if after doing all those it still crashes, you need to go to the vendor, and ask for replacement.

Thanks again for your response.

Ya, my Laptop is still under warranty. I approached them, but no use.

My graphics card came as default along with my laptop mother board (Sony Vaio). So I have no option to change the graphics card.

I need to know two things:
1. Can I disable my NVIDIA option from Device Manager?
2. If so, will I be able to enable it after disabling?

Please help me with this.

Thank you.

You should be able to disable and then enable the nVIDIA display driver.

What?!? They won't honor your warranty? Try to contact Sony directly and give them this dealer's name. They sound very dishonest.
