    Unable to customize settings??

I just got setup my new laptop, did all the updates, etc. What I have noticed so far is that I am unable to change certain settings. For example, if I try to select a screensaver, as soon as I select one, it reverts back to "None" instantaneously. The same thing happens when I'm in the taskbar settings. It's as if I have no "rights" to change these options, but I'm the administrator and there are no other profiles on this laptop yet. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Seven Forums LLandry11. Are you getting any errors when you do these things? If so, what, exactly, are the errors?

You can try the System File Checker first:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If no help, since this is a new install, I'd try a Repair Install next:

    Repair Install

It may be the fact that you are the Administrator of your computer and there no other user accounts ; still you are to obtain permissions , coz the real permissions belong to the Trusted Installer, not to the Administrator.

First, dont forget the apply button while making a change .

Second, as a check, turn off UAC temporarily, and then try to make changes .

If still there is a problem, report back .
