Solved removing "press any key to continue"?

Like the title is asking,is there a way to remove or disable that prompt at system startup?And if so,will it shave off that 2 or 3 seconds from boot time?Any hints?

When do you get this message. It usually only occurs when you want to boot from CD.

It might be a BIOS setting issue. You might want to change the settings so that HDD1 is always the first in boot priority.

Did a quick look up in bios,cant think of anything wrong in boot sequence or boot priority.Anything else to look into?Primary or secondary or something like that?

What happens if you disconnect everything but your HDD at boot? Do you still get this prompt? Do you have any batch files, or Power Shell scripts running at boot that may be prompting for this? You said you checked the boot priority, was the HDD indeed the 1st set? I'm assuming you have no bootable disks in your optical devices that would cause this.

Getting this prompt "detecting hard drives,no hard drives found"without the press any key prompt with only boot disk connected.As soon as either cd-dvd and/or HD2 is connected its detecting HDs,finds dvd and/or HD2,shows both in color and prompts to press.Two or three seconds wait and continues booting.Of course no disks in optical drive.How to make sure that batches or scripts are running?

This does look like a boot order issue as Petey7 initially suggested, on the surface. Can you tell us how many physical drives you actually have? From what I can tell you have a boot HDD, one more HDD, and an optical drive. Can you tell us what the device boot order looks like in your BIOS? Ideally it should be looking for the boot HDD first, and tell it not to look for USB devices.

Therein lies your issue. BIOS doesn't see the boot drive, so goes looking for another drive. Does the boot drive show in disk management? Can you post a screenshot of your disk management screen?

I've been pondering this for a couple days. I have three questions. How many hard drives do you have? Did you (re)install Windows 7 to this computer yourself? If yes, how many hard drives were attached at the time?

I have heard of cases where when more than one hard drive is attached while installing an OS, the boot manager is installed to one hard drive, while the OS in installed to another (ususally the intended) hard drive. This can cause some odd anomalies.

Installed windows on my own while only Hitachi ATA and optical drive connected.After a month connected WDC IDE drive.Boot priority is set to Hitachi as first and only drive.if both disks on,detects and finds WDC and optical,prompts and boots anyway.If only Hitachi connected,still detects,finds none and boots.View attachment 214092

I'm just on for a few, but your Hitachi has the SR, and the boot file, but is disk 1. While the WDC is also active and is disk 0. Both have a page file. I'll ask for others to take a look. A Guy

What kind of adjustments can be made with the RAID management software?

Has this always happened with this machine? Are C: and D: involved in a RAID, or are they RAID "Ready"?

You can only have one Active hard drive with one operating system.

This is your picture below. Open Disk Management as below.

Right click Disk 1 on the (C) partition and make this partition Active.

Use Method One.

Then go to this tutorial and make Disk 0 inactive. This will not turn the disk "off" it will allow "C" to boot properly. > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/197157-partition-mark-inactive.html

This below is important as the last sentence is the result. The wrong partition is active even if you did not do it.

Marking a partition as active on a basic disk means that the computer will use the loader (an operating system tool) on that partition to start the operating system. Marking a partition as active if it doesn't contain the loader for an operating system may cause your computer to become unbootable.

This tutorial will show you how to mark a partition as inactive in Windows 7 and Vista in case you marked it as active by mistake.

This is a picture of my Disk Management below.
As you can see in the picture there is one "Active" partition on "Disk 0" which is "C" the "Boot" partition.

Disk 1 is on and usable but not "Active".

Yours should show "Disk 1" partition "C" as Active.

You may also nt60 bootsecting on the WD drive so if it still interferes after setting it Inactive and deleting the paging file, move the data off to wipe it with Diskpart Clean Command then repartition in Disk mgmt.

I would also move WD into second position by swapping cables, making sure Win7 HD remains first HD set to boot in BIOS. This way if it becomes marked Active again it cannot steal the boot from Win7 HD during repairs.

following the tutorials but still getting the prompt.swapping cable position cant be an option since WDC is an IDE drive with only one seat on mobo.Even moved the page file from WDC,without wipping it clean because of three virtual machines and acronis image. Can it be that the second drive is in use by acronis due to backup location?

Marked as active,rebooted,boot manager missing,had to insert repair disk and had to set through command the SR(system reserved partition) as active to make it into windows.Pretty scary i must say!
To save us time and posts,already tried setting only C partition as active with same BOOT MGR MISSING result.
