Can't change desktop background to anythingexcept a solid color

    Hi,

I've been having an issue w/ changing my desktop background. Whenever i try to change my background to something else (every option except solid colors), no effect happens. I can select it and it will get out of control panel as if it did change, but it won't.

I tried to find %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\ in Windows file explorer, but it isn't there, even w/ show hidden options and hide protected OS files disabled (I assume this is the issue, it was probably deleted or something- any way to restore it?). Subsequently, the themes folder is empty.

Edit: This was not caused by the end of support screen.

Edit 2: I just tried to change it with a guest account and it worked fine...so the issue is directly related to my account. Not sure how to fix that though. Marking this as solved even though I cant fix it.

Is it related to this thread Windows 7 after End Support screen: NO BACKGROUND!

Wonder if MS is doing this?

No, this issue has persisted for probably about a year now.

That's alright. It isn't really a problem for me. Plus i'm the only one who even uses this PC anymore occasionally.

I feel bad just coming here to complain about my own issues. Sorry if this annoy syou but did you check teh MS documentation regarding this exact issue?

    - I read it and you have clearly tried a few things listed on that page already, but maybe there is 1 you haven't tried.
    - Double check all services and features are enable that are supposed to be enabled?
