Hi all,

I just installed the 90-day trial of Windows 7 Enterprise on one of my older computers that has 1.2GB RAM, 1.7GHz Intel Pentium 4, 80GB HDD, and a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 graphics card with 256MB dedicated video memory. Everything is running good, and everything works, including the sound and internet(I didn't need to install drivers for sound and internet). But I cannot find a proper driver for my Nvidia graphics card. I have searched on the Nvidia site, and only found a Vista 32-bit driver. My computer is a HP Compaq Presario 5000, and I looked on the HP drivers website, and they only had XP drivers. The graphics card can go to its full resolution (1280 x 1024) but I cannot turn on Aero. What confuses me is Win7 Upgrade Advisor said that the card was compatible with Aero, yet I cannot get it to work.

Does anybody know of a proper driver for Windows 7 32-bit?

Thanks, help is greatly appreciated!

Card may be compatible, but Nvidia dropped support for the FX series a long time ago. Best you're going to get,

ForceWare Release 95

may have to use compatibility mode to get it to install.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try that driver. Should I run it in compatibility mode for Vista?

If it is a Viste driver, installing in compatibility mode gives it the best chance of installing correctly.

You shouldn't have to, this driver will install either way. Additionally, I used to have an FX 5200, which is of the same series and I believe you can get the driver just by installing Microsoft Update, it should detect that you need it and allow you to install it.

Thanks everybody for the quick help, I installed the driver in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2, and I can now run Aero with transparency and all of the animations. Once again thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!

Nividia Geforce 5500 Windows 7 Driver

Hi Everyone, You can use windows Xp driver in Windows 7.
I done this by right click the Setup Compressed file. For example NVIDIA_81.98.exe setup compressed file

Now click on properties . Under compatibility mode
click on Windows xp (Service pack 3). This will now
install the driver in windows 7.

I hope this helps.
