Have you tried looking up your computer's driver page and downloading the correct drivers off the page?

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

I've read on many boards that a Base System Device could be a Bluetooth device. If you have an install CD with your machine you could try installing the BT Device (If 1 is present) in Compatability Mode for Vista. If that fails then try Compatability Mode for XP.
       Note
Your model number is not showing up on www.sharp.co.uk so could be a discontinued model. Finding drivers could prove difficult but not impossible

Base system device is the memory card reader.

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_19971043&REV_08\4&ICE8B37A&0&IBFO

See the vendor id? Its 1180 - thats Ricoh.

See the device ID? Its 0592 - thats the Ricoh memory stick controller.

Many notebook brands use ricoh drivers so just download from anywhere. Heres one link.

What happens when you try to play the game/dvd? Is the disk not detected or seen empty? Or can you browse the files in windows explorer but double clicking on them does nothing? Or do you get an error message?

You need to do some investigation to find out where the fault lies-

    1) try the unreadable dvds in another computer.

    2) Are these disks home made? Try reburning the iso- during this use a different brand media, burn at the lowest speed possible and use a simple burner like Imgburn.

    3) Are these disks region bound or drm-protected? Were these burnt in XP?

    4) Are these old games that may not play well with win7?

    5) Check for a dvd drive firmware update.

    Hi,
    Have done investigations,
DVD s will play in others computers running Vista premium and XP
Yes to the game they are not supported by Windows 7 so that problem is solved
It will play cd s burnt and store bought
tried to change the region from 2 to 4 as we are in Australia placed a store bought dvd in drive region 4 and it
kept saying could not change to region for until i put one region 4 in the drive, which I had and I was also in as administrator.
Having trouble locating firmware for Matshita dvd -ram UJ-8225 not sure if it is by Panasonic.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks in advance.

Hmm...if the dvds play fine in vista/xp, looks like they have a problem with win7 in general or with your particular install. Can you be more specific with what exactly this dvd contains, that might give a clue. And how were they made, what software used?
