Shogun Bros Mouse, Unknown Driver, Stops Working
I got the new Shogun Bros Ballista MK-1 gaming mouse today and I went to plug it in to my machine and it will not work. In the manual, it says that this mouse will work with a basic driver and does not require the software to make it work. Here are the details of what I tried:
(Custom Built rig with Windows 7 x64)
- Uninstalled old mouse software before plugging in the MK-1
- Unplugged old mouse before plugging in the MK-1
- Tried different USB port, even tried a USB 3.0 port....nothing works.
- Restarted (Many Times)
- Device Manager showing the exact model of mouse, but listed in Unknown/Other Devices and a description saying no driver installed.
- Plugged mouse into another Windows 7 x32 laptop, works perfectly.
- Plugged mouse into MacBookPro, works flawlessly.
- Tried to install generic mouse driver for it, wouldn't accept it.
- Removed the USB Root Hub in Device Manager and that made all of my USB devices quit working (obviously, but then they wouldn't come back at all no matter what...had to do next step)
- Rolled system back to earlier time before I installed the software, and IT WORKED!!! But only until Windows detected the new mouse and attempted to install a new driver...then it just stopped working.
- Ran DriverEasy and updated every driver for my system, including Chipset, USB Root Hub, etc.
- Ran CCleaner and removed irrelevant Registry settings.
- Rebooted, and it WORKED!! ..... Until Windows saw the new device and once again tried to install a driver. It prompted me to reboot, and upon reboot, the mouse stopped working again.
- Booted this computer into Ubuntu and it works just fine (so I know for a fact it is something with Windows because Ubuntu is using the same hardware)
What in the heck could be causing this?? I am really getting frustrated on this, and no matter what I try I cannot get this to work. I have Googled this to absolutely no avail (everything on Google is a review about how AWESOME this COOL mouse is....nothing about people having problems with it.)
I am afraid that I might have to reinstall Windows 7 completely, is that the case? Please help me.
