Windows 7 + Wacom Intuos 3 Problems...

Hi guys, i've been using the Windows 7 and my Wacom Intuos 3 for about 1 week and it was great.


But yesterday suddenly my tablet stoped work when my windows startup....if i disable the wacom drivers the tablet works fine but not with all the wacom stuff, and if i go to the wacom properties and remove settings my tablet back to work normally.



I've tried to reinstall the wacom Driver 6.1.2-4 but still the same...when windows startup and load my wacom driver the tablet stop...only work if i disable the driver or remove my settings..(yeah i've tried to get all stuff to default, didn't work too)

Welcome to seven forums. My only suggestion is to try and contact the manufacturer and explain your problem. it doesn't sound like a windows seven problem but a problem with their driver support.

Yeah, but the driver was working before this....And then i can't make my tablet work with any driver

I had the same problem with a Wacom bamboo. It seems the tablet service fails just after startup.
Open services (control panel/administrative tools) double click on the tabletpenservice and go to the recovery tab, then the first failure tab just below and select restart service from the drop down menu, Then apply and restart your pc.

Theres more information at the Wacom forums, seems we are not the only ones having issues with Windows7 and this driver set.

Worked for me.

Pen pressure

Thought I'd let everyone know how to fix the common pen pressure problem. It took me 2 days to figure it out and I had to read soooo many threads.

I have an Intuos 3 on a Windows 7 OS.

- Uninstall all wacom software/drivers on ur computer
- Follow prompts and restart ur computer
- Download latest driver from wacom (612-5)
- Install the driver
- Follow prompts and restart ur computer
- Plug in your tablet to your unit
- Follow prompts and restart ur computer
- Open photoshop and the issue is solved.

Hope this helps people avoid the stress I had.

Issue still seems to exist with the latest Wacom driver (612-5).

To be specific: with an clean install of Win 7 (64 bit) and the 612-5 driver, everything worked fine for about three days; then repeated "tablet driver is not running" errors.

Decided to try reinstalling the driver, so used control panel to uninstall the tablet driver and the IE/Netscape plugins. However re-running Wacom's installer (pro612-5_int.exe) now crashes just after I click 'accept' on the software license. Rebuild - OK so far

Started again from a clean install of Win 7 and the Intuos 3 is working again (touch wood).

In case it's of any use to others with the same issue, I was careful to install the driver before connecting the tablet. I also took the precaution of installing the tablet driver last - after all the other peripherals (scanner etc.)

I have a feeling that the previous problems may have started after I reconnected the tablet to a different USB port to the one on which I installed it - so this time I'm going to leave it on the same one.

The other thing I'm watching out for is any windows update that could have been the cause... if this turns out to be the case then I'll post back :)

Happily I can confirm that one week down the road, the Intuos 3 is still working fine on Win 7 - not sure whether the key to this was installing the driver last, or leaving it plugged into the same port... but so far so good :-)

For me my Intuos 3 stopped working completely after installing an update for "Wacom mouse" from Windows update. After using a system restore point from before the Windows update install everything works fine again! Beware of that update folks!

This isn't a reply as such, but related I think in some way to what's been happening to so many others. The symptoms are somewhat the same, though they seem to differ every now and then.

Hi everyone, I've been looking around on these forums, and indeed on the internet for a few days now, and I'm about at my witts end.
I've got my copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed, and it's been really quite nice up until recently. I've got two video cards running on the system, either separately or in SLI depending on what need to get done, Gigabyte Nvidia 9600GT cards @1Gig Each. They too have been wonderful.
My Wacom Intuos 3 has been working really well up until about a week ago, and really that's where everything just went to hell. I tried opening After Effects to do some Post FX work, system locked up, the screens all went black, and that was the end of that, had to restart to get it back. I can tell now when it's going to happen, as the splash screen has either a small checkerboard patter of black squares, or black lines start appearing everywhere.
I then tried opening Premier, same problem, so I tried Photoshop, you can see where this is going?
I reformatted, as is my way when things start going wrong, makes it easy for me to figure out what's happening. I eventually narrowed it down to the Wacom Tablet, and when it happened again on a fresh install, tried removing the drivers. It still crashed, so I went back to a restore point before the drivers were installed, and I can work, but not in Photoshop, which is really my main program most of the time.
The device has been coming up as a USB device that is not recognized, and NOTHING can be done about that as far as I can figure, even unplugged if you restart the system, it goes wrong. I have no drivers installed, Wacom released the newest 6.12.5 drivers that I tried, and it all worked for about 24 hours, then when the system was restarted, device not recognized, and the crashes again. I'm posting with Wacom as well, but if anyone knows anything about this, I'm begging for your help at this point, I just want to work.

Oh dear... I can't offer too much help I'm afraid: my setup is still functioning fine (touch wood). I don't use photo$hop but everything works fine with the Gimp.

The only suggestion I can offer (and it's a bit of a long shot I'm afraid) is that various devices on my Win 7 x64 system only seem to get recognised if I plug them into specific USB ports - even though I know that all the ports are working... it's very strange. May be related to BIOS settings but to be honest I'm loth to fiddle with it for fear of ending up in your situation!

Maybe a silly question, but just in case, did you uninstall the Windows built in Tablet functions in control panel/programs and updates/windows features? I did not have the screen problems that you get, but before disabling the Tablet functions I could not get my Intuos working in Photoshop unless I reinstalled the Wacom drivers every time I restarted the computer.

I am having the same problem as Caetis For now I need photoshop to work so my new Intuos4 is collecting dust:(

Try updating the Intel drivers

My Intuos3 still working fine with Win7 x64... however I got a potential insight to this problem last week; when I started having real problems synching my iTouch to the PC too. Somewhat similar issue to what I was having with the Wacom tablet - all would seem fine osmetimes but other times it just would NOT properly recognise the device.

Anyhow, a bit of digging around on various forums identified a suggestion from someone that this could be an issue with the drivers for the Intel chipset on the motherboard (in my case, an Asus Maximus III - which is a socket 1533 based design that uses the Intel P55 chipset). So I went to the Asus support pages and found an update for the Intel drivers (in my case, "Intel_Chipset_V9111020_XPVistaWin7.zip"). I installed this, and also updated the BIOS while I was at it - and hey presto... suddenly my iTouch is now recognised properly every time, and various other USB weirdness has gone too.

I can't say whether this issue is connected with the Wacom problems I was having before, but it's at least a strong possibility.

I believe I’ve solved the problem – my Intuos 3 loost it’s drivers or so it would seem; I found that if you delete the preferences table it works, until something regenerates the preferences table… so I fixed another problem w/ Photoshop cs like this & it also worked for Wacom: Find the directory for Wacom tablet {you will have to search your hdd} mine was in: \Program Files (x86)\Tablet\Wacom. Open properties on both the Tablet and Wacom directories; go to the security tab; under user names choose yourself [Users (jim)] and choose edit permissions. Then set your permissions to “FULL CONTROL” apply and this should clear up your problems, I now have a preferences table running and haven’t lost my drivers yet.

I was having the same trouble with my Intuos 3 and the drivers for it. I installed the drivers for Windows 7 and it worked until shut down, when I rebooted, the tablet would not work. I unistalled the drivers and installed the Vista driver instead; Driver 6.1.4-3 for USB Tablets on Windows 7, Vista or XP (32 & 64 bit). I tried this and it is working beautifuly. I hope this helps ;)

I have a Wacom Intuos 3 (on Win 7 32-bit) and this is very similar to what just happened to me. I don't usually allow windows to download updates automatically - I like to know what they are first but I recently had some issues with the hp printers on our network (grrrr...you don't want to know, believe me!) Anyway, against my better judgement, I was talked into allowing ALL windows updates to install (I should have known better, my fault!) So, all these updates start downloading and installing....windows stuff, my sound card, my video card, adobe, hp printer stuff and. . .wacom (something to do with the mouse). So, this wacom mouse update loads after all the rest, I reboot and my tablet is all squirrely. The tablet is real slow in reacting to the pen so I switch to the mouse (which I despise) and it's the same. It doesn't always respond in Photoshop or on the internet. I know it's got to be because of this update.

I know this is a long post but I'm gettin' to my point...I promise....
So, I go to my update page to check out the wacom update and it doesn't show anywhere. Hmm...I then went to microsoft's update site and had it search for updates installed on my computer - the wacom update shows up there but there's no functionality from that screen (can't delete). I go back to my computer and the updates and again the Wacom one doesn't show up. I'm about to throw this pad at something...I've had it for three years and NEVER had a single problem until now so I just want to undo this update. I was hoping to do that without a system restore because I've just solved an internet/network issue that I don't want undone.

Any ideas how I can delete this thing?

I was having the same trouble with my Intuos 3 and the drivers for it. I installed the drivers for Windows 7 and it worked until shut down, when I rebooted, the tablet would not work. On another note. If you want to remove the water drop effect:

The best way to turn off the ripples effect in Windows 7 is to go to Windows services, select the 'TabletPC Input Service' right click to go to the properties and in the General Tab:

1 - stop the service
2 - change the startup type to disabled
