Windows 7 + Wacom Intuos 3 Problems...

I believe I’ve solved the problem – my Intuos 3 loost it’s drivers or so it would seem; I found that if you delete the preferences table it works, until something regenerates the preferences table… so I fixed another problem w/ Photoshop cs like this & it also worked for Wacom: Find the directory for Wacom tablet {you will have to search your hdd} mine was in: \Program Files (x86)\Tablet\Wacom. Open properties on both the Tablet and Wacom directories; go to the security tab; under user names choose yourself [Users (jim)] and choose edit permissions. Then set your permissions to “FULL CONTROL” apply and this should clear up your problems, I now have a preferences table running and haven’t lost my drivers yet.
:sarc: Running Win 7 - 64 bit

Just wanted to say that after days of grappling with my ancient Graphire3, this solution worked for me and I'm a very happy camper now!

Symptoms: Downloaded 6.2x series driver from Wacom website (updated April 2010) in the hopes that the update fixed whatever reason it wasn't working. Install driver, reset preferences table, restart computer, plug Graphire3 (CTE-430) into direct USB port on laptop running Windows 7 OS, the light would turn amber like it was going to work but then either shut off or blink slowly after a few seconds. The pen would sometimes work for a few seconds, but then fail. Amber light on the tablet pad itself would go out. No trouble with the cord being twisted or anything like that. Unplugging and re-plugging in the tablet in either the same or different /USB port would result in "USB Device Not Recognized" error - troubleshooting showed driver issue Code 43.

I didn't have a Wacom directory in my Program Files, but I assume you only get that with the Intuos line. Also, I didn't have to choose a specific Users name - just did All Users and changed the permissions to "Full Control" like you said. The path to get to the Tablet directory was just like you said.

Thanks again!

Very similar problem here on w7 64-bit: my 15 year old Intuos worked fine for one day until I rebooted. Hitting the Remove button in My Preferences from the Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility dialog got my Intuos working again.

Don't now if it's still working after a reboot though. If not, I'm going to install the Vista driver.

You got a 15 year old Intuos to work with Win7? Mine was 11 years old and I had to buy a new one because the new drivers only support USB-connected tablets now...

But I'm having the same problem with my new Intuos 4. It seems to be caused by a Windows update, it has worked fine before that update. And I found out that it forgets the driver only when the tablet was in energy save mode when I shut down the PC. When it's active at shutdown the driver is there at startup.

I've enabled full control now, let's see if that helps.

Same problem here. I never had any problems with XP and now that I have a new laptop with Windows 7 it drops the driver for my intuos2 tablet. I really don't like Windows7 at all. Nothing but trouble with it. I'm not very clever with computers either so am rather lost with this problem

The funny thing is that it's working now for me.
I'm not really sure why, but I think it forgot the drivers because the tablet switches itself off when it's not been used for a few minutes. I think when Windows is shut down while the tablet is in sleep mode it loses the (freshly installed) drivers. So I made sure it was active and working when I shut Win 7 down, and on startup everything was fine again. I only had to do that once, now it remembers the drivers even if I shut it down with the tablet asleep. Never had any problems since.
Give it a try, perhaps it works for you too.

Thanks. It's certainly worth a try. Fingers crossed:)

Wacom need to get it right!!

I have Had the same troubles, so annoyed! I work with WACOM INTOUS3 and the pressure sensitivity went on and off when I switched to Windows 7 still using Photoshop cs4, it worked great on Vista, but I dont believe its the OS, it's the WACOM driver, the latest one they published.

At first I noticed it and switched back to an older driver from earlier 2010, around jan 2010 it was released, this fixed the pressure sensitivity issue for the most part, but it still lost function but not as often as before, then other issues began to occur, the program began to bug out which was interupting work flow.

FIX - I downloaded WacomTablet_614-3 driver install restart with the tablet attached -then I downloaded WacomTablet_6.1.6-7 which is the latest update- install restart with the tablet attached, keep in mind I did not uninstall I just loaded them one after the other and bang - the tablet works perfect - it is very unsettling and I sympathize with everone who has encountered this frustrating problem.

It worked for me I dont know if it will last - I have been testing it out for the past 40 mins with not one problem even after restart and unplugging then reconnecting the tablet. Also try install restart with the tablet unattached if the above is not working - I hope this helps -

WACOM - SORT IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope another developer gives WACOM stiff competition so we the consumer are not left in the malfunctioning WACOM ditch.

Inverted Situation

OK, solved the silly problem. Mouse cable was damaged. When I plug the tablet USB in, it touches the mouse's one and plugs it out. I taped the mouse's USB connector to the keyboard's one :))

Hi.
I have Intuos3 on Win7. The issue I faced is a problem with Windows because yesterday I tried it with a LaPazz tablet and the same occurred.

The problem is that when I use the tablet, mouse stops working :S

I tried rebooting and nothing happened. I can use the tablet only. I have been searching the problem in case of someone had it before, but I could find nothing.

Any ideas?

Not found

Hi I'm having a bunch of trouble with my Intuos3 tablet. Just updated my pc to windows 7 pro and when I tried to reinstall my tablet it's giving me a bunch of problems. I install the driver and it says it was successfully installed (Tried before and after plugging in the tablet itself) If I install the driver and then try to open Wacom Tablet Properties, I get the error, "A supported tablet was not found on the system" and I have no idea what is causing this as it used to work. Does anyone know how to fix it? I've uninstalled the driver and rebooted many times, which is all I've heard so far online.

I had a similar problem with a Cintiq 21UX that I bought used, and I thought I had been totally ripped off. It worked great the first day I got it and never worked again after that. I tried EVERY suggestion on every forum there is...uninstalling and reinstalling different drivers, restarting the Wacom "service" and all of that. So here's my recommendation if you've done all that and still no luck.

Check your graphics card.

When you unplug the Cintiq's DVI monitor cable from your computer you'll see 18 round pins and one wide, flat pin. In my case, that wide flat pin had gotten pushed inward because the female end (on my graphics card) was just slightly too narrow for the pin to insert.

After many days of cussing out the guy who sold me this thing, and losing my mind because nothing was working, I discovered this little issue. So I used needle-nosed pliers to pull that wide flat pin back out a bit, and swapped out my graphics card with older one, and it fixed the problem.

I feel like I may be the only person on earth who has had this particular problem, but if this post helps even ONE other person, it will make my day.
