    Newegg sold it with 3GB. I now see that. Seems really odd as that's not to Acer spec (nor consistent with Crucial advisor either)

    But as the OP is running 32bit Windows, OP can try running with 2GB. A single 2GB stick would be to spec (probably also good to check it's 533/667 MHz memory). Personally, regardless how it's sold, it creeps me out if memory's not to manufacturer spec. Even more so when getting BSODs

    @Vishalshetty
    Are you comfortable with removing / reinstalling memory? I think it worth the experiment to pull the 1GB stick out, verify the other is 2GB 533/667 MHz and try running that way. Would be simple to try before revert the OS

    Yep 3 GB creeps me out too, memory should always be 2,4,8,16 etc...... Who knows if Newegg`s specs were even close, most other spec sheets I found of it said it came with 2 or even 1 GB

    I`ve seen so many laptops sold with 3 GB installed from the manufacturer, makes my skin crawl

    OH. a footnote: After you pull the 1GB card make sure the 2GB card is in slot 1

    that`s only if his 2 slots are together, a lot of laptops have 1 stick on the bottom and 1 stick under the keyboard a PITA and just stupid in my opinion.

    But very easy to do at the same time.

    A quick youtube search will show where the slots are.

    As to why the missing info for the lower one (the 2nd controller i965GM1), I don't know why or know that level of detail.

    So I googled to find and compare the data you found in this case to another (I found the msinfo data for another case HERE) It shows same info also missing in the lower case, which is for controller i965GM1. So, don't know why, can only guess that's just how the data is for controller i965GM1 (Maybe the 2nd controller doesn't need that info? IDK just a wild a** guess.
    No problem, I was thinking something was corrupt and that was possibly leading to the BSOD.

    Thanks for looking into it though.

    Guys, before i removed the sticker which was on my laptop, i saw that it said 1gb of ram but when i removed the back cover and i saw that there are two ram sticks - one is kingston 2gb and another was the default acer 1gb one.

    Edit* - Also, i did a clean install of windows again and now no bsod! and its windows 7 ultimate. when i checked in device manager, only one driver was there!

    Edit2 - I got a bsod, during the installation of firefox. and then again another bsod. the analysis is here -

    Code:
     *******************************************************************************
    *                                                                             *

    Have you tried the suggestion yet of having just 1 2GB stick installed ?

    I know that`s a long shot but we have to keep trying :)
