Gigabyte X470 Drivers Conflicts for Windows 7

Hi All,

I have two issues with a new install on a new board.

X470 Gaming 7 WIFI
AMD RYZEN 5 2600

I am trying to install Windows 7x64 to this board which Gigabyte supports with it's drivers.

I have installed all drivers from the install disk and still get two conflicts in Device Manager.
I updated the AMD chipset drivers to the latest ones as of 2 days ago.


1. Other devices; Network Controller ! At first I had 3 conflicts and like a lame brain I didn't record them all but after installing the driver disk for Intel WIFI (Before understanding it is only for Windows 10), 2 of the conflicts went away. The remaining one is for PCI slot 1. I have a graphics card here with the drivers installed from the graphics card disk.

2. Security Devices; AMD PSP 3.0 Device ! This one persists even after the drivers are installed. Since I don't know what it is for I don't know where to start.

If anyone has encountered this who can point me in the right direction I appreciate it.

Since my driver disks are meant for both Win 7 and Win 10 it may be something has gotten installed that is really for Windows 10 that makes Windows 7 unhappy?

devicehunt has a good page telling you how to identify the hardware ID of your driverless devices, which is a good starting point. Step 5 takes you to their main page, which once you key in your hardware ID there, it usually gives you a link to the driver.

OR

gigabyte has a utility called App Center which will examine your system and tell you what drivers you need to update. It will then download and install them if you want.

The function of the Amd PSP device is described here. Its for v1 and you have v3, but the description likely still applies.

On your final point - this is very unlikely as windows has protections built in that prevent it from installing device drivers that are incompatible. If you try to do so windows will say "the driver you are installing is the wrong one, are you really sure you want to do this?". In any case, once you find the right driver via one of the two methods above, any wrong driver will be replaced by the right driver.

If you are unable to fix the problem, post your PCI/VEN numbers, i.e. your Hardware IDs.

I found my device ID for the Network Controller...

Intel PCI 8086 Version 2526. Intel calls it Wireless-AC 9260 but offers no software that I can find. I have a 'driver' disk but the cryptic descriptions of its contents leave me less than comfortable about using it to install anything in hopes of fixing this issue.

I went to Intel website and looked pretty thoroughly and couldn't find drivers for this particular hardware ID. So I googled and of course no luck there either unless I wish to install a bunch of junk programs on my new Win 7 partition. Nyet!

Any help with this is appreciated.

As for the AMD PSP 3.0 Device. Gigabyte was less than helpful. Downloading and installing the 'App Center" gave me a black 'app' window from which I could find no way or method to investigate any information about my MB or how to download drivers.

I guess I will just uninstall AMD PSP 3.0 Device. Gigabyte equipment has been my go-to hardware but the last 6 or 7 years their support becomes less friendly to customers and I just don't have the patience. I don't really see a need for a PSP security for my home PC anyway. The biggest threat here is the cat walking on the keyboard.


After I posted my request for help I did of course realize that the installation disk wouldn't cross-contaminate OSes by placing unwanted drivers where they shouldn't go. My apologies for that.


Anyway, unless you can think of a compelling reason for PSP, if you can help me with the driver I am most grateful.

The AC 9260 will not work on win7. Me and others tried repeatedly to modify the win10 driver some months back but no one was able to get it to work. The only win7 solution is to replace it with an 8260, or whatever. I would uninstall PSP. The gigabyte app center driver update will work, but it may be dependent on also installing one of the other 25 gigabyte utilities that use app center as a prerequisite. I say that because I had your issue too but solved it after installing something else. No idea what I did. Here is a link for a win7 amd psp driver. It may or may not work but is worth a try. If it does not work, I'm guessing the psp3.0 is win8/win10 only.

I have gone through the threads but you know how it is, after a while everything looks the same. In fact I do now remember trying to follow one conversation about modding some drivers in which the OP eventually did not return.

I intend to also install Win 10 to this board so I can use 9260 then.

This has helped me a whole lot and I'll get back with the results of the Lenovo driver after while.

I have given up on PSP for the time being. I was able to avoid getting yelled at by not installing PSP drivers from the install disk. As for the network issues I am now wondering if this might be because I haven't installed the antenna? The only reason I can see for an "Encryption/Decryption" conflict.

And if these last two exclamation marks go away when I do plug in the antenna I've read elsewhere you can't disable WIFI. If that is the only nag I see when I occasionally look at device manager then I'm okay with that. Just have to make a note for the future in case I forget what this was all about.

Anyway unless you have other thoughts on this I am considering this thread complete.

The 9260 just won't work on win7, so you are stuck there. But on the psp driver, its not uncommon for one motherboard maker to have a driver for win7 and another to only have the win10 driver. I saw a thread where one guy got PSP 3.0 running on win7 by installing this driver from MSI. I would run this and see if it works.

ALSO - make sure you are fully up to date on windows update. Sometimes that works too. If you've not been able to use windows update because you're getting an Unsupported Hardware message, run wufuc
