I have this showing up in device manager.

Have tried the reinstall driver bit with no luck.

When I boot into Vista it is listed under System devices. When I check on the driver in Vista it says 'No drivers have been loaded or are required for this device' and is working.

Everything seems to be working fine except my Sandisk USB flash drive. Is this a pre-beta thing or should I be concerned. Have updated MOBO drivers with no effect.

mine shows the same gary, im not too sure what it is either but my rig is fully functional.... i think when others chime in you will see its the same on most boards

its a continual ''work in progress''....
I think this came up in another thread. It is the chip driver which contols the sensors for monitoring btempature.etc, but also maintains the transfer of any other devices which are monitoring and passing information back to the OS.. I dont know if it is really anything to worry about.I understand, that if you have any such devices, the driver will automatically install, so, maybe you do not have those. It can be found in many places. Mine was on my motherboard/computer setup disk.
It mostly an intel chip, so maybe the best place is the source:

But it can be according to the motherboard chipset s. You would then need to update your driver according to whatever chipset you have - Intel, Nvidia, VIA, AMD, SIS?

I forgot to mention the significant part. Once it has installed, it no longer is in "Other devices but goes to the relevant section. This is mine under system devices and Intel.

Since the pre-beta will be replaced in the next month or two, I'm just going to ignore for now. If it is still there with the next release I'll give the driver utility a try. Thanks again.

its a continual ''work in progress''....
sm bus controller is part of your chipset drivers (mainly an .inf file). Put in your mainboard driver disc...right click on the "sm bus controller" ...and click on update driver...point it to your mainboard driver disc.

Well apparently not, because I had the same problem.

Solved:
1. Download Intel X58 chipset utility from Asus website (zip format)
2. Unpack (extract) to a vacant folder.
3. In device manager, right click on other devices showing error and direct search to folder created in step 2.


Fixed it for me.
