30.89GB Unusable Disk Space On Hard Drive
I just bought a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 (1012) netbook recently and I currently have 30.89GB of unusable disk space. It is listed as “Free space” in Disk Management. I installed Jolicloud (distro of Linux made for netbooks) in a dual boot configuration (dedicating 30.89GB to Jolicloud), but later decided that I was better off with just Windows 7, so I deleted the partition that Jolicloud was on. During the process I ended up doing a clean install on Windows 7 Starter onto my netbook. I also used a program called “Active @ KillDisk - Hard Drive Eraser” to delete the partition that Dell allocated to recovery I think, which is now part of the partition Window 7 Starter is installed on. So as of now I have three partitions on the hard drive: “System Reserved” 100MB NTFS, “(C:)” 201.90GB NTFS and 30.89GB “Free Space”. When in Disk Management and trying to create a new partition using the full amount 30.89GB, 30GB, 20GB or any amount, I get the error: “There is not enough space available on the disk(s) to complete this operation.”. Also I tried to install Windows 7 Ultimate on the this free space and got the error: "Windows could not create partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code:0x8004240F"
Does anyone know of any solution to either extended my main partition, create a new partition or install another OS or anything with this free space.
Thank you in advance.
