The screen that I'm seeing when selecting Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Restore Point only does not provide for creating only restoring?

Search bar in Start menu type "create restore point" click it.
Now you have Create button and Configure if needed.

    Excellent!

I have placed both flavors of create on my desktop + pinned sys restore to start and will use + keep on eye on history over the next few weeks.

    Thanks!

    Something still seems amiss.

I checked Restore Points just now and there were 4 points all reflecting stuff done today. The 1 point that the system had created on the 25th at ~12 a.m. and the 2 that I added with your suggested utility are gone?

When checking restore points make sure the "Show more restore points" box is checked as in my picture.

Then follow below tutorial. Make sure Step #8 is set to at least 10%. I prefer 10% or larger up to 15%. Too small and you loose old ones as you are now.
If yours is 10% now up it to 12-15%.
If your HD is 300GB or bigger you should have plenty of extra space.
I only had 160GB HD on my old XP computer and had 20GB for restore points.
    That is about 20+%.

Step #8 there are three circles at top make sure the one is marked the same as in the picture.
Don't forget to click "Okay" when done. That applys changes.

I waited prior to posting this reply to be certain that what I report represents consistent action of the system.

I changed the disk usage of Restore from where it was previously set (~3%) to 10%. However, at most the system is only retaining 3 dates. In fact, with yesterday's uninstall and reinstall of Norton 360 I only show 2 dates this morning and both are date stamped yesterday the 30th.

The default (and I do not see where this can be changed) setting of the box unchecked to show more dates never displays more dates when I check the box. I see no place to 'execute' the action after checking the box so I assume that the action of checking the box would cause the list of dates to refresh.

Any ideas on why the system is not holding more of a date history?
