Heres my problem:
I had installed updates through windows update (like normal) and restarted my computer. But when it got to the "configuring windows screen" it had suddenly restarted again! It repeats this over and over, never letting me get to the log in screen. I have tried safe mode and last known good configuration but it does the same thing.
Please help someone!

Hey wingman, Log in safe mode via f8 key and try restoring windows to before updates installed. Never allow windows update to update automatically seems like bad things happen in windows 7 when allowed to update automatically. Especially drivers, never update drivers through windows update.
He has already stated that Safe Boot doesn't work. Thats bad advice about never allowing Windows Update to update automatically because it does bad things : thats just incorrect.
Wingman : do you have the Windows installation CD/DVD? Have you tried a "Repair Install" by booting from the CD/DVD?

He never stated he couldn't get into safe mode, only stated safe mode wasn't any help, And when it comes to drivers via windows update thats always a bad thing. Next time windows update has drivers to update check and see if those drivers are actually up to date. 9 time out of 10 Ive seen those drivers arnt actually up to date. Ive seen many systems running windows 7 fail due to windows update. As he stated this started with windows update.
Can you log into safe mode at all? If you can take my advice, If not do as Suggested and do a repair booting from windows 7 disc.
I had gotten to safe mode...but it just goes strait to "configuring windows please wait..." then restarts. and no i do not remember where my install CD is, i had it a long time ago and it got misplaces. Every time I try to get to the login screen it does the "configuring" thing but never finishes,

Rubbish! I've used 7 from the Beta and never had a failure due to a driver update, and its set to Automatic.
Please, please, please do not give this kind of advice here. There is absolutely no basis for telling a user to not have their automatic updates turned on. In fact, automatic updates should ALWAYS be turned on so that your system receives the latest security patches. Only very rarely will an update cause a problem on a system that is not already compromised in some way.
And driver updates through Windows 7 also very rarely cause any problems. I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, but this is not advice that should be passed on to impressionable and novice users.

If u dont have the install disc, see if any of your friend have Windows 7 as OS and use his/her computer to create a repair disc. Boot from that disc and restore to any date prior to the installation of updates.
