Ive just read this :

http://www.sevenforums.com/news/14365-developing-windows-7-taskbar-jump-into-jump-l.html

Holo88 made a very good comment about having an icon on the taskbar for this forum.

Ive been sitting here for the last 30 Min's trying to work out how to pin an internet shortcut to the taskbar in W7 ....I just cant figure it out.I know its normally .Exe files that are pinned but I'm thinking there must be a way to do it.

I know i can change my homepage to this forum and click on the IE icon , but it would be cool to have links to what you want in the taskbar IMO.

Has anyone got any ideas please ?

:D

This is actually quite straight forward.

1. In firefox or IE, go to the index page of the forum.
2. where you see the forums favicon by the address in the address bar, drag the favicon to the desktop and youl see an icon appear.
3. drag the new desktop shortcut onto the taskbar. If you already have firefox pinned, it will pin it to the jumplist saying pin to mozilla firefox.
4. optionally you can now delete the desktop shortcut and the pinned item will still work
5. If you do have firefox already pinned youl now have to right click on the pinned icon in order to use the jumplist to go to the forum directly.

Just right click your browser's pinned icon. In the history will be various sites. Hopefully the one you want pinned with show up. Just click the little pin icon to the right of it.

I get what your saying and to be honest i have SF.COM pinned on a jump list already, i want an ICON on my taskbar for this forum ...just the same as i have one for WMP12 , Notepad and IE. Maybe i shoud have expained better in my Original Post...Sorry ..:D

Firstly right click your taskbar and unlock it

1. Create a New folder somwere on your pc, on your desktop for testing would be a good idea.

2.Open Windows 7 Forums in your browser.

3. Drag the favicon icon on the address bar into your new folder.

4. Right click your taskbar and select Toolbars > New Toolbar and choose your folder.

5. You should now see your new folder just next too your sys tray.

6. Drag the new folder next to systray over too the left side.

7. Right klik your new folder on your taskbar and untick show title.

You now have a new icon on your taskbar which links directly to the forum. You can rename it to watever you wish.

Open a beer and celebrate.

Edit: if its too small right click taskbar and selct view and choose large, personally I prefer the smaller icon.

IE
Pinning a site takes seconds: click the icon to the left of the web address in One Box, or the tab for the website, or the website's icon on the New Tab page, and then drag it to the taskbar. That's it. Once a site is pinned, it shows up as its own thumbnail, separate from Internet Explorer.
