Hi! I have a problem. I have an Asus laptop, I use to play games and do homework ETC. I have never had problems running my top games, but for some reason now according to event viewer my computer randomly shuts down during a game, due to overheating. Also, in the My Games folder, or whatever you call that, it says my system score is a 2... I do not get it. It was at 6 or something when I got it. I use an external hardrive for storage of games and music. ( just extra info. ) This is confusing me, and I have no clue what's going on
Thank you in advance.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say your system needs to be professionally cleaned. More than likely dust has built up inside the intake vents and it's unable to properly cool the components anymore.
The only way to really fix it is to take the laptop apart and give the air ducts a proper cleaning.
Of course that's just what I'm coming up with from what you've said. Hopefully none of the components have suffered heat damage.

It's a bit of a process to get in there and do it right.
If you've never done it before I suggest watching videos and reading first.
Taking apart a laptop is quite a bit trickier than messing with a desktop. how to clean a laptop fan - Google Search
