Solved Unable to delete old user folder

Hi expert, I recently reinstall windows for some reason. After complete reinstallation there are old user folder left in C:\users\old folder and I can't delete this folder. Please help since they are taking up a lot of disk space.

Hello Komputer Rosak,

Looking at the paths in the address bar of your screenshots, these are not user accounts in your C:\Windows.old folder, but are the actual user accounts created in your current installation. You will not be able to delete the user profile folder unless you are not currently logged in that user account, and you have already deleted the user account in User Accounts (Control Panel) first.

You're right, I cannot remove this user profile in control panel because it's not exist anymore. This is user profile for previous windows installation. So, what is the easiest way to delete this folder? It's take about 2gb disk space and I don't like it..:D

If the user account is not listed in Manage another account in User Accounts, then see if you may be able to open the C:\Users\awe folder, allow permission if prompted, then try to delete the folder.

If you are still unable to delete it, then see if you may be able to delete the folder from a command prompt at boot.

Yes, I can delete all folder in C:\Users\awe except AppData folder, it won't go off even I use elevated command prompt as you suggest...

Oh my god, something miracle has occured when I try to open command prompt at boot. Actually I'm not sure how to do that and I press F2 but I cannot open command prompt, than I exit. I start my machine and hold F4 key but I release the key because there are warning tone and the computer start normally. For 3 times I start again and I press and hold F12 key and I don't see option to open command prompt at boot. I just save & exit...computer start normally, when i open windows explorer the folder that I want to delete has gone as shown below

Anyway thank you very much to all of you...merry christmas !!!

Don't know if this will help since it hasn't been a problem for me in 7, however in Vista I had to open the folders and delete files individually, or at least in small chunks.

After installing WDP, I had a time removing the old Windows folder. I used Unlocker to delete files within the folders; then the folder itself. It worked, but took a while....:rolleyes:
