    Thanks for everyones replies, what i done to correct things was insert my windows 7 disk, then change the boot sequerence to run from disk, then reinstalled windows 7, sorted! but going back to vista today becuase the drivers are doing my head in! Thanks for everyones replies and help
    Good to hear of a solution,
    but post is somewhat cryptic...

    "Sounds-like":

    1. He changed the BIOS to boot from (disk) CD/DVD (maybe F2 after power-on).

    2. Inserted W7 (disk) DVD

    3. Booted from W7 (disk) DVD and reinstalled Win 7.

    I don't think his HDD (disk) was involved here at all.

    I hope he fares well with Vista, if that's what he chooses...

    Glad you found a solution.

    What do you mean about the drivers? Seven has the same and more drivers than Vista....

    Well additonal drivers. For example i have a built in fingerprint reader, camera and some volume pad, they wouldnt work after i upgraded to vista, even if i installed the software, it was to much hassle to be fair?

    Well, that is the manufacturers fault, not Windows. Just so you are aware.

    You may be able to look on the manufacturers website to find drivers, or contact them directly to see if that have them.
