After downgrading IE10 to IE9 Internet Explorer gone

I followed the instructions for downgrading IE10 -> IE9 and restarted my system. IE9 was up and running then after a second restart IE9 is no longer available on the desktop.

I can find it in the Program and Features -Uninstall an update.

It shows that IE9 was installed on 9/26/2013.

I do use FF but there are times that I have to use IE (work) so I need to find a way to be able to run IE9. Can someone list the steps needed to restore IE to my desktop?

    Thanks,
    Ken

If I understand correctly, you just need a shortcut to the program... go in Computer to the main Program Folder, find the Internet Explorer folder, open it and find iexplore.exe, right click and you have choices, pin to start, pin to taskbar, or at bottom create shortcut...

I've already attempted the search for iexplore.exe but the search did not return with a match. Note: I attempted the same search on my "working" laptop without any match. I wonder if iexplore.exe is stored under another name? I found that on my working laptop, IE is one of those programs which do not have an icon on the desktop, just a quick launch icon and that one has no properties option which would have shown the path to the app.

Is Internet Explorer ticked in Windows Features?

Windows Features - Turn On or Off

    If it isn't, tick it.

If you have system files and folders hidden or extensions hidden, search will not find it...the path to the app is as stated below C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

The directory is there but the app is not. There are only 27 files/2 folders, iexplore.exe is not one of those files.

Look at this tutorial on removing IE9, remove it, reboot then install it fresh and add a shortcut to your desktop during install.

In C:\ProgramFiles\Internet Explorer do you see this icon?
Click on it and see if it opens to your home page on the Internet.

Nope, iexplore.exe is gone (or was gone)

Uninstalled IE9 and then reinstalled IE9. All is back to normal with a couple of sites that refuse to load. Attempting to load those sites cause IE9 to stop working (or so the popup error message state).
