Well firstly I must say that my laptop is dual-booted. My laptop boots in this order. BIOS, GRUB, OS
Running Ubuntu works perfectly, Windows used to work too.
The other day I ran a few updates, fixed a few drivers with slimdriver, then used a boot animation changer to change my boot theme, afterwards i used avg pctuneup 2014 and told it to defragment the registry on the next boot.
The next boot It loaded the bios, grub, then it gave me a black screen, i restarted and held f8. I tried safemode with networking, it crashed halfway through and my computer restarted, now i cannot even get to the f8 option. I have tried the recovery disk and it cant help me. I can access my windows files from Ubuntu if there is any manual way to fix it. I would not like to install windows again if preferable because it just took me 2 weeks or so to set everything up because last time it had completely different issues that required me having to wipe and reinstall the windows partition. When the screen is black the caps lock button flashes in a series of 1. This apparently means a corrupted cpu according to hp but seeing as my computer runs ubuntu perfectly, this error appears meaningless I am currently thinking that if its the boot animation changer, I could possibly replace or revert the files with the backup files but do not know the location. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this?
