    I too miss it. Like I miss the ability to add an "up directory one level" button to explorer windows. Oh well.
    Try this;

    You actually can disable the auto-arrange function to have free sorting in a number of cases. Take a look through these notes and Tutorials and see if any will give you some guidance:

    DISABLE AUTO-ARRANGE: Windows Explorer Auto Arrange - Disable - This Tutorial disables it in all folders except Libraries, to allow FREE SORTING.

    However, free sorting is only possible in the following Views: Extra Large Icons, Large Icons, Medium Icons, Small Icons, and Details, and NOT in the List, Extended Tiles, and Content Views.

    When you disable Auto Arrange and either Move or Rename a folder, it will refresh Auto Arrange in that specific moved or renamed folder ONLY after each time you move or rename it. Auto Arrange is still disabled for that moved or renamed folder, but you will have to arrange the files back to whatever non-auto arranged order you like after moving or renaming the folder.

    Thanks for the Registry entry!

    The registry entry DOES work (using Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit)!
    BUT only in classic mode. In Aero mode it seems to fail...

    Works for me
    Thanks plenty
    (And yes: The registry key is ordinarily not found in the registry, it needs to be added with the Registry insert provided on the first forum page
