Impossible to login in win7 after using ntrights.exe

    Hi everyone,

due to a misunderstanding I used the ntrights.exe file (originally from within the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools) in the wrong way and now I can't log in to my profile in windows 7 home edition 64 bit.

That means that I can't use my laptop in any way because my profile (administrator) was the only one on the computer.

The command I used with ntrights.exe was: SeDenyInteractiveLogonRight
More exactly ntrights -U "my user name" +R SeDenyInteractiveLogonRight

More information about ntrights.exe tool can be found here: Shut Down Computer - Allow or Prevent Users and Groups

I have managed to gain access to all the files on my laptop using a live version of Ubuntu that I boot from a usb drive and I would like to know how I can revert the effect of the command manually (without using ntrights.exe which obviously is not accessible).

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have other user accounts with admin rights on that machine?
Maybe easier boot from win7 install dvd -> repair computer->system restore . so go back in time.

    Thanks for answering,

my user account is the only one on the machine.

Since with the purchase of the laptop i wasn't given the windows 7 install dvd i would prefer a way to manually revert the changes i made with ntrights.exe

I think you have to do: ntrights -U "my user name" -R SeDenyInteractiveLogonRight
but first you have to start win7. Or boot from win7 recovery dvd.

Downlaod the win7 install ISO yourself from http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technol...download-links (down at the moment).

Or maybe faster... borrow from friend

Rename 2 files and do what is described here: User Account Password - Change from WinRE
    In step 7 instead do:
    Code:
ntrights -U "my user name" -R SeDenyInteractiveLogonRight
Step 9-13 are not necessary in your case.

Step 3 and 15 can be done in ubuntu

Can you logon successfully in winre .. strange... I thought that's interactive logon as well.

You only did the ntrights command afterwards?
