Ok, I'll do that. Let's say I install a program to the SSD that would normally add files to My Documents folder during the install. Would this install be able to find the new location that I have moved the My Documents to on the other hard drive? If that makes sense.
I've been running with my User folders moved to E:Storage for several years now, even sync them at the same time to all other PC's by moving them to the OneDrive folder which I first move there.
I've had no problems at all except that I don't any longer use Windows Backup Imaging because it wants to include E in the image since it now has System (User) folders. So I use Macrium instead which is more flexible anyway since I can then move the image to any partition whereas 7 imaging requires you keep the same exact partition structure.
An alternative to moving User folders is to again place a copy on Storage partition and instead of moving the shell User folder there, right click on each to add it to it's related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums
then set that folder as the default for the Library - Set Save Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums.
Then when you click on Library it will show you both the C and storage location for those folders, so if anything accidentally lands in the C User folder you can drag it over to the storage partition. This takes some getting accustomed to.

I am having some issue now with the Windows Updates not being installed. It says there are a total of 168 updates to be installed, so I shut down, then it goes through them. Then, it says that "Failure configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off computer."
Next Windows starts up, with no updates installed. Does anyone have any ideas? I have done some reading up on this, one person said to reinstall Windows, which has to be nonsense. I have only just installed it!

I've never seen these issues not resolve themselves after having time to sort out. It's likely choking on the quantity so once it clears the backlog off the Shut Down button, signaled by a "!" mark on it, you can install them in smaller groups or just keep trying.
Another strategy that works is to tun off Automatic updating in Windows Update settings so you are in complete charge of the updates being installed, then install them in small groups starting with Optional to get all drivers in place.
Let us know how these options work for you. I'd try the first one first and then the second if it keeps choking.
Ok I'm trying to install them at around 20 or 30 at a time, seems to be working. It will take a while!

Greg, when I did this, if I for example download a file, it does appear in my new location on the secondary hard drive, but also appears in the original user Downloads folder. I even tried deleting the Downloads folder on the SSD, and then the Downloads folder gets deleted from my secondary drive too. I must have missed a step?
What is that User Folders location now as seen on its Property>Locations tab? This is what rules. You can delete the duplicates without any Location tab.

I notice alot of space on my new SSD has gone missing. It's a 256GB one, I know you never get the full size allocated from the start anyway. So it tells me 174BG free of 238GB. Surely Windows isn't taking up all this space? The only programs I have installed are Avast Free Edition, Malwarebytes, QuickTime and VLC player.
Some questions I have:
Is is a good idea doing a Disk Cleanup on an SSD?
Should I disable hibernation?
Should I decrease the size of the paging file?
Is it a good idea to reduce the System Restore usage slider or to even turn System Restore off altogether?
