how do you close a thread??
We don't close threads, if they become problematic we will, but as a rule we just mark them solved.

I see you marked one solved and requested it be closed, the solved is good enough.
    Thanks for clarifying.
    You're welcome. :)

    Hello and Thanks

Been lurking around here for quite while (I can't find my join date under user CP so until I actually post something it's hard to say how long) and thought it was about time I stopped by.

The quality and clarity of the answers and tutorials have been a consistently invaluable resource, especially recently since I found myself with an unplanned project on my hands.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their time and effort in making this forum what it is.

Well I'll be.... turns out I've posted here before, way back in'14. Sorry about that. Seems senility is further advanced than I'd realised

Hi, newbie here; have joined to post an issue I'm having with the Not genuine windows 7 pop up when the system says i'm activated following a HDD to SDD clone a week or so ago.

Windows 7 not genuine pop up after HDD clone to SSD

I decided on this forum as you all appear to be friendly and helpful.

    Hello all,

I'm Dan. I have an old Alien MX17 laptop with ultimate that is doing something I've not seen before. I'll start a new topic as I have looked around here, the forum, and not seen any reference to my issue. I hope someone can help as I have little experience in the IT department...read that as NONE.

Not that I am aware of. Used to point people to PCHF, but sadly it is no more.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've just had a look at the thread about providing info for BSOD crashes, and it is quite clearly stated that this forum is for Windows 7 only.

So unless anyone else has any suggestions I'll just have to try and figure it out myself. I think it may be faulty hardware that is causing the problem as I'm now connecting directly to my router rather than through an Ethernet switch and - touch wood - it has been stable for a couple of hours.

    Regards,

    Zaphod.
