W7 Home Premium 64 bit Boot Issue

Hi All

When I restarted my laptop yesterday it booted into the 'Windows Boot Manager’ screen, which says to choose an operating system to start, or press TAB to select a tool.

The OS listed are ‘Microsoft Windows 7’ & ‘Windows 7 Home Premium (recovered)’ and the Tools listed are ‘Windows Memory Diagnostic’.

If I go for ‘Windows 7 Home Premium (recovered)’ it starts up fine, but then if I restart I get the above again.

If I go for ‘Microsoft Windows 7’ or ‘Windows Memory Diagnostic’ it goes onto another window that says Windows failed to start etc. then tells me to insert my installation disk and repair.

When I boot using the disk it goes into the ‘System Recovery Options’ and it lists:
Operating System Partition Size Location
Microsoft Windows 7 0 MB (Unknow) Lo…
Windows 7 Home Premium… 231502 MB (C:) OS_Install

If I try and repair the first OS it says it cannot do this and to send to Microsoft.

If I try the second it says it has repaired but then when I restart it I get the same ‘Windows Boot Manager’ screen again.

Can anyone please help with this issue or advise as to where I might get help please?

I ran malwarebytes, spybot & ESET yesterday so am just ran superantispyware (removed 670 items, ouch!) and then I'll run the bleeping computer one and if nothing comes up I'll try and run the SFC in safe mode.

Ran sfc and it says it did not find any integrity vialations.

Ran chkdsk and CCleaner as you suggested.

I've noticed this when I go onto disk manager. There seems to be extra partitions that I cannot seem to get rid of! Any ideas how I can or whether I should?

I don't know if you should get rid of the partitions, that's something you need to decide. If you want to remove them, I suggest "Partition Wizard". Visit the following link for more details;
