    stuck on bios

Unlike every other post I've seen on here where people are stuck on bios, I have not changed/added/removed any part of my computer. My only thought is that 3 days before I had plugged in my external hard drive and I think at night my computer must have been updating itself and tried to restart.
So I'm stuck on the bios screen and my keyboards (both usb and ps2) don't respond or have power. Nor does the mouse. I tried starting up w the Windows 7 CD in and still nothing.
HP Pavilion w Windows 7 home premium. I really don't know any of my specs... this was a hand-me-down.
Tried moving the jumper closest to the cmos and still nothing. Also if it's helpful I get no beeps when I turn my comp on.

    Any help would be wonderful.

If you can't Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS
then I would remove the HD from PC and insert in another to rescue files.

Without HD installed will it boot the Win7 disk? How about flash stick media written with the Win7 Home Premium x86 SP1 English Official ISO download by Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool ?

If so Wipe the hard drive using Diskpart Clean Command and Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

If none of this works then you may need to reflash the last BIOS if it will boot into CD or USB media. Research your PC's downloads to see how the BIOS updates are formatted. Are there any for bootable media? We have hardware experts here who can walk you through doing this as a last resort.

I'll have to try those things and get back to you on if any of it worked.
