    How to repair Windows after Home Premium to Pro upgrade


    I'm running an Anytime Upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Pro on a Dell XPS16. The installation has corrupted files that I have been unable to fix through the SFC utility or other means. I'm thinking my most desirable option would be to use the Home Premium installation CD that came with the laptop to do an "Upgrade" (repair) installation. However, my understanding is that because I upgraded from Home Premium to Pro, my only option, at this point, is to do a Custom installation, which will wipe out my applications and settings. Is that the case? Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thought windows anytime upgrade died a while ago, what exactly do you need advice on ?

    Have you ever done a clean install ?

    Clean Install Windows 7

    Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    Did the corrupt files start after the upgrade ?

    You'd need to Clean Reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium and then Anytime Upgrade to Pro again.

    You'll get and keep a perfect install to the exact extent you stick with the tools and methods in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

    Then unlock the few expensive features in Pro version which I hope you neede or else the money is wasted since its the exact same OS.

    It explains in tutorial how to save a backup image of the finished product which you can use instead of having to ever again reinstall both versions.
