Error 1812 when starting TrustedInstaller
Let's just say, I've got a lot of problems. I'm feeling I can fix a lot of them with if this one is solved.
I want to run sfc /scannow. The problem? Well I can't. TrustedInstaller needs to be running for that to work. In the cmd I typed "net start TrustedInstaller"
Here is the response:
The keyword here is 'resource section'. I do not know what this means.Code:The Windows Modules Installer service is starting. The Windows Modules Installer service could not be started. System error 1812 has occured. The specified image file did not contain a resource section.
Attempting to start it from services.msc also puts out this error.
Here is the error in event viewer (xml view):
I have already tried a chkdsk /r which took many hours and did not solve it. sfc /scannow obviously cannot be run. The problem is clearly with the 'resource section', which I am unsure what it means. Attempting to replace the whole servicing folder with a working one had no effect, so I am sure that it is not that problem. It may be a regedit problem but I would have no clue where to start or what to add/fix.Code:- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Service Control Manager" Guid="{555908d1-a6d7-4695-8e1e-26931d2012f4}" EventSourceName="Service Control Manager" /> <EventID Qualifiers="49152">7023</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8080000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2015-09-18T09:22:50.358731700Z" /> <EventRecordID>10161</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="668" ThreadID="1124" /> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>:)</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data Name="param1">Windows Modules Installer</Data> <Data Name="param2">%%1812</Data> </EventData> </Event>
