    Thelma's PC...

Ok, back home, the snow cannons on the hill opposite my chalet apartment are in full swing, luckily to far away to hear them, but I see their lights in the dark.

Well Cy, nothing to get excited about, the mean problem is still there, but at least the sound on the external( plug in) speakers is back :).

I did the obvious, uninstalled the device in Device manager and rebooted, .... got a message saying not possible to reinstall.

Did the same again but this time in my ADMINISTRATOR account, same answer.

Then I did it again, in the ADMINISTRATOR account but this time with the speakers plugged in the Laptop and Electra and bingo, it reinstalled a the device and I have ( at least) now my sound back by my hanging on speakers.

Thanks for that, :), Mr No name, I will look that up. Will back-up first, as I always do when I go in the register.

What should I do with it? Just have a look to see if it is right?
Gonna find some glasses some where

Hi idontknowmyname, welcome to 7F! :)

It would be very helpful, if the next time you post a registry key that you post the complete key. And if you are contemplating a change in its value that you post the corresponding steps to change that value.

Thelma is accomplished in working with the registry, but if you go to her Audio and Sound Thread you can see that she does not know what to do because, either she can not find the key because of poor guidance or the key does not exist.

    idontknowmyname,
You must understand that not everyone has the same permutation that you have on your machine and it is imperative that your direction is clear to the member you are trying to help.
If that means something as simple as modifying a value or creating a new key, it is your responsibility to provide the proper instruction to accomplish what you are trying to tell the original poster (OP) to do.

idontknowmyname. Do you, know how to properly change the binary/hexadecimal value of a key?

After some searching, I found mine at:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings
    And this is its setting:

I did not have to change anything because my system is working okay.

Anak, more thane one way to do what you are asking. My typical way is export the key, back up the reg. Modify the exported key, then import it.
Hope things are well at home

I understand your request to provide more detailed and concise instruction, but that is not always posible with different versions of the OS, right?
