Windows reset itself back to 2014. Is it possible to recover all data?
Hi everyone,
I recently came back home from a long weekend. I turn on my computer and no problems at all. I checked some emails and looked on facebook.
I have this random hard drive I wanted to check out to see if could use it. I didn't want to get a virus so I disconnected my two hard drives that are already in my tower. I was going to use a linux disc to boot up and see if the disc could even spin and if so, I would have wiped it then. Turned out I couldn't find my linux disc so I took the drive out and hooked mine back up. I went to start it and apparently I got the cables crossed and it said to reboot and use proper boot device. I switched the wires while the computer was still powered on. Probably shouldnèt have. The computer turned on like normal except one major problem..... it reset back to 2014. I lost everything from then up to now. Emails on thunderbird, bookmarks, files, etc...
Back in 2014 I had windows installed on a 60GB SSD and it was filling up quick so I got a 120GB SSD. I had transfered that 60GB partiton to the new 120GB SSD. It worked totally fine up until today. Windows now thinks it`s still in the 60GB drive. It`s not showing the correct drive size of 120GB. It only shows 60GB.
This is one strange and frustrating situation. Can anyone help with my problem? Please and thanks
