Multiple issues after sleep mode.
Hi, Please forgive the long description but I think it will help to see what's happened in order to gain assistance.
I made a mistake when selecting restart and somehow hit the sleep option. I immediately 'woke' the pc up and had 'possible disk errors' with a recommendation to let the system check, which I did. The system continued and went into a file verification run. After some time the PC came back to me, and now, hardly anything works.
First thing I did was to open Firefox to look for a resolve. The bookmarks bar was empty. Firefox said the places.SQLite file was corrupt and would rebuild on a restart. This I did and the bookmarks are back along with my passwords etc. Further issues are present with page rendering (as though no css is being read) YouTube renders ok but will not play any videos. (tried other sites and they don't play either).
Steam failed but after a few attempts managed to repair itself.
Crome wont load at all without error message.
Logitec gaming software wont load and says to reinstall.
Windows defender will not work and asks for an update but wont connect.
System restore not finding restore files to select.
Windows update wont connect as 'management files are missing'.
PC has no sound. Updatedrivers says drivers up to date.
Device sound test failed to run.
2 drives (boot/OS included) are showing red. Both drives were near capacity before but were not full as the system now shows.
Owing to expansion I have data and programs over 4 drives; 4tb, 3tb, 1tb SSD & 500gb SSD.
I installed bit defender and ran malware/virus checker. It took a long time and (on both occasions) progressed slowly up to 8% then ended saying no problems found. Not sure how it take ages to get to 8% scanned, then suddenly jumps to finished?
Unfortunately, I don't have a back up owing to the size of storage and there are a number of older programs that I will not be able to get back if I re-install the OS. Downloading 100 steam games alone would take an eternity, let alone all the other programs and updates.
I hope its understandable that I want to repair and not re-build the PC.
I'm not really sure what to do. I was hoping windows update would restore management files but wont run. I have a registry back up on CCleaner but don't know if I should revert to that or if the system will let me.
I'm wondering if windows can be fixed from the installation disk (without losing anything).
Is there software that can be downloaded to repair or find issues.
Any help or advise will be very much appreciated. Even solutions for individual issues I have listed (especially the sound so I can get back to gaming) would be great.
If you have got this far thank you for looking.
