File size in Octets. How to return to Bytes?

    Hi.
My OS is after vistalization (very long time ago) and after this, the file size is displayed in Octets, KiloOctets (KO) instead of standard Bytes, KiloBytes (KB).

I want to change this appearance to have file sizes in KB, MB, GB, etc.
    How can I do this?
    Thanks.

If I recall correctly the original usage of Octets was as a non ambiguous name for an Eight bit Byte, at a time that the word byte was being used for more than one meaning 4 Bit, 8Bit, and 16Bit

If it is being used in your case as the original then the kO that you are seeing is simply a kB

As for retrospectively resetting the display I would not know except that the original change shows it can be done using the reverse of the original procedure

Are all folders like this? Is this the result of moving folders from Vista to 7?

Try this once. Go into your Folder Options in the Control Panel or via search and show protected files. Now in that problematic folder see if there's a hidden protected file called desktop.ini. Copy and paste that somewhere safe and then delete it. See if you have the proper data sizes now.

If you migrated from Vista to 7 it seems like some extra settings came along with those folders from Vista.
