For the price of a retail copy of XP, MS tech support taught me how to clean reinstall the OS, optimize it for best settings, scan for viruses, upgrade my RAM, edit Startup programs, graphics effects and much more. I have always gotten more in tech support than the value of the product which is also great.

MS spends a fortune on tech support, with a company policy that any issue will be worked through to completion for a cooperative customer, even elevated to a research team if necessary. They put the computer maker's tech support to shame, and have to constantly push them to give better support for pre-installed Windows.

If you're really fed up with your computer brand's Windows tech support, complain to MS as they will take action. They made it clear to Acer that they will properly support Win 7 upgrade kits or face legal action after many complained.

Tech support in general is pretty bad, unless you have a simple question.
