A new version (1.0.2498.0) of the stable Microsoft Security Essentials is available.

   Note

This is not the Preview (Beta) 2. - version trough Microsoft Connect. This is the stable version.

i take it that it doesn't auto-update the program along with the definitions, so we have to download this?

i've just pressed update within mse, and it downloaded definitions, but a help >> about still shows version 1.0.1963.0

I believe that the only change in the update is to the EULA that allows small businesses of 10 or fewer PCs to install MSE. The change took effect today: Microsoft Security Essentials now available for Small Businesses.
