ChronicDev Team have no released their Jailbreak for OS 4.1. The jailbreak was held back due to a last change of the bootrom exploit. They decided not to use the SHAtter exploit so they can save it for a later date, and used the same jailbreak that was released by Geohot a few days ago. It was expected to be released on 10/10/10. It's fair to say that none of the Jailbreaks are perfect but that is being worked on. Some people have been having experiences where they have had to try the jailbreak 3 or 4 times before it worked.
The Greenposi0n jailbreak still only supports the same iDevices that limera1n offers.
Also there is no jailbreak available for MAC users yet.
LIMERA1N JAILBREAK
Geohot has recently just released Limera1n, which is a untethered jailbreak for all firmware up to 4.1 and supposedly all the firmware that is going to be released in the future. It was made untethered by hacker comex who released the jailbreak called Jailbreakme. This was a jailbreak that was able to be run directly from safari on the device. This was quickly patched in 4.0.2.
iDevices that can be Jailbroken with Limera1n: iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, Apple Tv (Technically there is no apps avalible yet)
(iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G are being worked on, for the time being you can use "redsn0w" for these two)
Limera1n has taken 6 months to make and wasn't expected to be released. The actual jailbreak that was supposed to be released was "greenpois0n" which was planned to be released on 10/10/10. Which has been delayed to see if apple ends up patching the exploit and could ruin greenpois0n's chances and waste a perfectly working Jailbreak.
Limera1n isn't a simple 1-click application like the last jailbreak Blackra1n. The only extra thing is that you have to place the iDevice in DFU mode yourself. This is made simple by the on screen instructions once you have opened the limera1n.exe and clicked
"make it ra1n"
How to place iPod into DFU Mode-
"Hold Home Button + Power Button untill you see the apple logo appear"
"Once the apple logo appears let go of the power but continue holding the home button iTunes will appear telling you your iPod is in DFU mode"
It is still in it's Beta stages but seems to work perfect. The jailbreak is only available for windows users but a mac version is being tested.
I might make a Step-By-Step tutorial from start to finish which will show you how to run limera1n and install
Cydia and many different types of software you might need on it ( depending on what you guys think???)
