My wife has the Omnia II. I was a little underwhelmed. I hope Microsoft fairs better...

I've been waiting for the Windows 7 phones for some time as I don't like Apples lock-in and I don't like Googles hunger and dishonesty, but at almost every turn the "lack of features list" has grown and grown and it comes off about as polished as the iPhone 1.0

At this point in time it should have met and bested IPhone and Android in their current incarnations. Though a weak app store I could have forgiven as that is not really up to them. I actually feel bad and let down by it and Microsoft on this one...

It may be an ok phone for the average user but it's no Geek phone

When you actually get to using the UI, its simplicity becomes beautiful.

Just the fact that it is different makes me want to try it.

Untill then im in no position to critisize it.

I like android but its by no means great enough to the point where i would never switch lol..

Considering smart phone contracts are only one year before you can get a new phone its definitly worth trying Windows phone 7 out.

One area that these phones could possible take off (with a good part of the market) is in the business world.

However it seems they have it geared for social networking more then anyting?!?

i mean, Iphone 4's and HTC EVO's are made in the exact same building in Taiwan.

I've used the emulator and dev tools so I have seen it in action as the emulator is about 99% the same as the actual UI. I don't find it any simpler than iPhone or Android.

But it's the ugliest. No I don't want anything "littered" with gloss or glowing things. But at least something that won't hurt my eyes. Heck, they could have made it look a little like Windows 7.

I think microsoft knew this was gonna be a hit or a miss so they pry went out on a limb when designing it, willing to take that chance.

It reminds me of the Zune when it came out. Compared to the competition...it was light years behind.

Personally, I'm not terribly interested in having MS software running on my phone as well. I've got enough of them on servers and workstations. I'd rather that somebody else like Google or Apple run the software in my phone.

It make me less annoyed by my HTC Touch Pro2 with WM 6.5 which works fine and is modifiable, root-able, and can even run Android if I so choose, but, can't be upgraded to Windows phone 7 (go figure, guess Microsoft thinks they can force an upgrade with their current offerings) Yea.....Ummmmm.......no.

Wouldn't mind trying one, but not impressed so far with that UI look. I read somewhere no tethering on it & the copy/paste doesn't work? I'll stick with Froyo for now and looking forward to the new Gingerbread release!

I have not been impressed on the whole with windows based phones. My good friend had one, and when I got my android, he switched to that OS, and traded about half his phone's functionality for a better UI.
