I just bought an ATI 5770 HD Series 1GB GGDDR5 and Im having issues.
My system has a DQ965GF Intel Motherboard with a Core2 Duo 6400 2.13GHz
4GB DDR2.
Ever since I took out my older board, a 7300GT, my computer is now slow.
Slow to open up websites, and I mean just to display it, my games are also lag
and I did not have this issue before. I looked for the latest drivers to this card,
latest drivers to my motherboard but nothing seems to help.

Any one have any idea what the problem could be?
Im thinking of uninstalling and re-installing fresh again. If
it doesnt work within the next week I will just return it but I really dont want to do that.

Any help will be appreciated, and thanks in advance

More importantly, did you install the ATI drivers? In addition to removing old drivers as Lemur said.

yeah most likley some drivers were still there and botched the card

i used to run a 7300gt on another motherboard and that card ws alright but hmmm is you'res agp ? cause that was the version i had

but i see you are runnig a duo core so i would assume you have a pci e slot anyways i would check bios settings in the boot up and then go to uninstalling all drivers with nvidia encluding the program folder in the c drive

then go download the latest drivers from ati do i full virus sweep and defrag you're system clear all internet caches and what ever else junk you don't need

then see if you have any bog downs cause i just summed up all the things you have to check if a pc is running slow also a disc scan may be in order your hhd could be going bad and read time are less could be a multiple of things i wouldn't think it was the gpu personally

I would agree that it is not caused by the GPU.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I do a sweep of my drive weekly, its a habit I have since I am in the PC business.
My drives are good, defrag not needed, no viruses, no spyware, nothing out of ordinary.
This actually happened the moment I put in the new card and that is why I know that's what's causing it.
I did uninstall all previous NVIDIA drivers except for physx because one of my games need it.
I was going to try one of the suggestions above to remove every single video driver I have and start again
but I ran into a small problem before I got to that. I will try it tonight and start over.
And yes, I had downloaded the latest drivers already, the disc gave me that option so I went with it.

One thing I noticed is that my CPU usage sticks to 100% and that never happened before. I try to find what is using so much of it but when I kill the highest service using cpu it stays at 100%.
Im going to try re-doing all the drivers, and if that doesnt work then I will re-install windows and start new. I can do this without fear because I keep everything important in a separate drive so that will be a breeze. I will let you guys know what solves the problem.

Thanks again to all of you.

Big difference between a 7300 GT and a HD 5770, in more than just performnce. The 5770 also has a lot higher power requirements, is the PSU up to running it?

Yuppers Stormy hit that right, I would also wonder about the CPU's MHz, 2.16. Many times, in order to take advantage of modern vid cards, you need a CPU with some oomf.

I actually thought about that yesterday. I havent gotten around to work on it yet but I did read 500watts or more PSU is required. I will purchase one and see what comes out of it this weekend. And the other guy about the CPU with more oomf, I checked it out and I shouldnt have any issues with my current CPU although I am planning to upgrade but no cash for that yet. Ill try the PSU option first.

Thanks again guys

I'm not saying that you would have issues because of 2.16. I suggesting that you will not get the fullest possible performance from the vid card. I took my cpu from 2.6 to 3.8. Video card performance increased markedly, just an FYI.

Indeed you hit it right. I found a 700watts PSU @ work good quality and good condition, brought it home and poof all is good. I had forgotten that I had taken my original 650watts out for burning out and had to get a quick solution to put one of less wattage. This PSU im using now is working beautifully and no more system slow.

Thanks to every single one of you who gave me advice.

Thank you all again:party::party::party::party:
